I refuse to tip when it cost me an arm and a leg already. They are overpaid with no college degree.

i dont think so. i refuse to tip, they make more money than i do and that is extra gain to them so no i dont.
now if im in a restaurant and i have the extra, i do my best to give a tip. seeing ive been a waitress before and the pay is bad enough as it is. so everything counts.
now in california it is required that you have to pay a $15-$25 tip along with the service of what has been done. since when was a tip/donation a mandatory amount?!
a tip/donation is what you want to give, NOT what you tell us to give. such as when church people go around trying to sell those wind chimes for a mandatory donation of $10 and i could go to the store next door and literally get just as nice of one for $3! how is that a donation? like my friend told them, she gives enough at church and shouldnt have to pay such a high amount, i agree even though i dont go to church. you dont tell people what they are to pay in donations, you should just say we are selling wind chimes at 10.00, he wouldnt sell it to her since she only had $8. greedy bastards i tell ya. in example to the one talking about how her husband was the same and her sister cant afford barely a roof over her kids heads, then maybe she shouldnt have had three kids if she knew she couldnt afford to feed and house them all.

They may not have a college degree but they do have education beyond high school for their profession. They work hard and stand on their feet all day. Just because someone doesn’t go to college does not mean they should not make good money if they are good at their job, many college graduates stink at their professions and only passed their college courses because they cheated their way through. My goodness you sound like a snob. They have to pay for the use of the chair they use and share the money charged with the owner. If you see the owner then a tip is not necessary but if not then yes. A good hairstylist can make you look like a million dollars and is worth a couple extra dollars for her skill.

Unfortunately, the price you pay for a haircut does not all go to your hairdresser. There are products to buy, hairdryers to replace, building rent (or mortgage), etc. A regular hairdresser in a chain is making minimum wage and depends on tips. If you see someone with their own business, they get to keep more of the money, but then they are also not sharing costs with anyone plus they have no insurance, etc. You may think they are overpaid, but they really aren't.

Why depend on a hairstylist so much? Keep long hair and get a cut from the $10/10 minutes booth. No tipping needed.

Yes, you're cheap as hell. My husband was like you before I got my hands on him and now he tips and actually gets pretty decent haircuts LOL. Plus, not all stylists make really good money. My sister is a stylist and struggles just to keep a roof over her and her three kids' head and food in their bellies. So next time you don't tip, think about that...

i think of three greenbacks is superb counting on what she did. some place charge to plenty. My hair is on the instant and my husband can cut back it for my, although, whilst i prefer it cut back and he's out of city i bypass to a salon. One place I went to mentioned they'd charge me $50 to cut back it. I instructed them "all you will desire to do is cut back a on the instant line around the backside to do away with the split ends." To which they mentioned that it incorporates getting my hair washed and dried. I asked how plenty it might fee without washing or drying it. They instructed me $40 5. (I have been given my hair carried out for my wedding ceremony there with a woman that would not artwork there anymore and it purely fee $60 so i assumed that grow to be loopy.) i did not get my hair cut back there cuz i assumed the fee grow to be loopy. If I had i would not have tipped in any respect via fact they have been already charging greater that I felt they'd desire to. Sheeze $50 for cutting a on the instant line. That takes little time, little potential, and little attempt. although, getting my hair carried out for my wedding ceremony took a brilliant form of potential, time and attempt so she bypass $15 for her tip. I base my tip greater on what the guy does, how properly they do it, and the concepts-set they do it with than on the fee of the hair cut back, form, and so on. i used to be a waitress and that i belive human beings would desire to artwork for there information. the different women who have been given smaller information did not positioned forth as plenty attempt. Base the top on the provider not the fee.

They aren't overpaid. They provide a service and deserve a tip of mot less than 15%

I tip 10 - 20 % and so does everyone else who wants a good cut from their regular stylist.

I am NOT in favor of tipping either - no one tipped me to do what I am supposed to do - but it is a fact of life that in some cases we must tip.

Sounds like you need to find another hairdresser.

If it already costs an arm and a leg, then you probably are
expected to tip.
I have been going to the same hairstylist for the past
20 years. I have followed her to 4 different places.
I tip her very well. She fits me in when I need a last
minute appointment. She knows my hair, and how
I like it styled.

yes, yes you are
going to a hair dresser is a luxury, hair stylist are not over paid, they have a lot of expenses and they are on their feet all day working their butts off trying to please overly critical yaboos that expect miracles. If you have the money to pay for the luxury then you should tip especially if they do a good job for you. and if you keep going to the same stylist and not tipping then I would not be surprised if you started mysteriously going bald.
