I am an Occultist. As an Occultist I am a seeker of the hidden truth. I seek the real truth much like you do in asking this question. The cruel fact of the matter is there is not a soul alive who knows the whole real truth. The truth is something everyone has a little peice of. In my studies of the truth I have found one common truth. That many people are afraid to tell the real truth becuase they fear being misunderstood. I was not the first person to realize this, this comes from one of the most misunderstood men of all time in my humble opinion.
Ralph Waldo Emerson said "A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines. With consistency a great soul has simply nothing to do. He may as well concern himself with his shadow on the wall. Speak what you think now in hard words, and to-morrow speak what to-morrow thinks in hard words again, though it contradict every thing you said to-day. — 'Ah, so you shall be sure to be misunderstood.' — Is it so bad, then, to be misunderstood? Pythagoras was misunderstood, and Socrates, and Jesus, and Luther, and Copernicus, and Galileo, and Newton, and every pure and wise spirit that ever took flesh. To be great is to be misunderstood."
I choose to live misunderstood. I have no shame for speaking what I believe today only to contradict it tomarrow. I have no fear in changing what I know becuase after all, I am simply human and am capable of error. If someone wishes to call me a fool, or a hopeless dreamer I will be happy and proud becuase it means they don't understand. I believe that exact moment is the most pivetal point in a persons life. You can choose to move on and continue to seek the truth, you can choose to teach what you know to the person who does not understand, or in an act of absolute brilliance seek the truth in the act of teaching them.
Hails to the Occult,
Silence

do away with faith and the question turns into "Who Thinks *insert race/ethnicity/nationality/gender/sexual orientation/political association/philosophy grow to be The Worst achievable undertaking Ever To take place To The Human Race!?" Human nature is human nature, and conflict would be fought be it over faith, politics, or different motives. FYI--a great number of wars are fought under the GUISE of religion, altruism, philosophy, or different stable-feeling concepts whilst fairly the motivations are just to take something somebody else has. case in point--"conflict on terror" and our neverending occupation of Iraq and now our involvement in Libya. that's approximately oil, not faith, not race, not even "freedom". in case you think of maximum if not all wars have been unquestionably inspired with the help of somebody's non secular ideals you're an extremely, VERY naive individual.

Absolutely. I figure if I ever need to know, whatever is out there will tell me. There have been way too many religions, gods and goddesses, and whatever else for there to be one right answer to anything.

You are correct. Most organized religions have lost the way and are into rock and roll music, boogey in the aisle, ect.

i agree with you. but, we all need to believe in something even though we know that a religion cannot be completely right. it's just the way things are.

Yes! I have the same opinion as you do.
I choose to believe that all people are created equal, and a "higher power" does exist. The details of how and why, etc.....is a mystery to me.

no, it is not possible to be spiritual without the endorsement of a major religion.
"Spiritual" has absolutely no meanig outside a framework of beliefs.
what do you really mean by "Spiritual"? SUperstitious? Irrational? agnostic?
If you would define spiritual as the vague feeling that something is going on, I guess you could be spiritual.
sure, go ahead.

I lean toward atheism. Sometimes I think I'm missing something in my life, then I wake up in a cold sweat.
