Some very reasonable answers -- they just changed my mind.
My first reaction was, "of course, it is gambling." But, I have to agree that the culture must have some sway. If it's donations and people are buying to support the church ... now, I think it's a good thing.

Many Christians think this is gambling. I can not quote a verse though.
The reason most people oppose gambling is because in order for someone to win others have to loose money.
In state lotteries the state receives money from ticket sales, which is then distributed to the winner(s). This is considered gambling.
I am a balloon sculpter. I made sever items for a church function. One of the people in charge raffled them. That group of people didn't seem to have a problem with it. Some people would. I consider it a donation.

Many will say, "No" for the same reasons they do not like holding Church Binggo's. Holding a Raffle or Biggo is akin to gambling and like gambling, it skates very close to the sin of tempting God.

Use good judgment. I think it's perfectly fine. It could raise question if someone were to misappropriate the funds but misappropriating of funds always raises questions...
Don't be too uptight if it is for a good cause go ahead...God knows your intentions.
Sounds like it would only be a problem if your congregation didn't agree.

No. The only church that I know that does raffles in the Catholic Church. Which is pretty much separated from the other Protestant churches.

I'd say no. It's gambling, no matter how "righteous" the cause.
More biblical to rely on God's provision...

Some people look at raffels as a type of gambling so it is questioned by some.

Are we stealing,or killing,or committing adultery, wanting someone else property, lying.,or we serving another God,or we dishonoring our mother or father,

I don't believe so. To me, it's like the lottery--it's basically betting.
However, that's just my feeling--I maybe wouldn't go as far as to say it's "UN-Biblical".
Hope that helps!

I think it's like everything else, and not just with religion or the Bible. If you want to see it there, it's there. If you don't want to see it there, it won't be.
