I had a thriving business before the amputation. I had to sell all my assets to pay off my accounts with my venders to a "0" balance, which left me broke. My right leg below the knee was amputated 6/9/06, I'm going to be fitted for a prostetic leg in 2-3 wks. I am unable to work, and my bills are piling up. I've applied for SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS and have been denied twice, I'm currently on WELFARE recieving $300.00 per month and also recieving $150.00 in foodstamps. My family consists of my 2yr old son, my 11yr old daughter, my wife and myself. My rent for housing is $1075.00 per mth., plus electric, gas, telephone, auto insurance. I am currently "3" mths. behind on my rent.I will still be unemployable into the NEW YEAR.Any documentation needed will be supplied to the person, persons or organizations that will assist me with my financial difficulties. My family and friends have helped me and can no longer do so anymorem, I've gone to the churches in my area and can get no more help.

This happens to many. You didn't mention whether your wife works or not but in any case she probably should be. As for the SSD, you need to get a SSD attorney to help you. The Social Security system has very stringent policies which not only include your disabi;ities but also your age and other criteria. If you are under age 50 they will without a doubt deny you any benefits unless you are a quadrapeligic, brain dead, or some other serious condition! Not much else you can do! Social Security will more than likely force you to go back to work doing something! They don't care about your past jobs and how much money you made, what they care about is whether or not you are "employable" meaning McDonalds, selling papers on the corner, collecting tickets at the theater! Partial loss of a leg today doesn't qualify you for "TOTAL" disability! You will be fitted with a prosthesis and taught to walk. After that, everything stops and you're on your own! Sorry, don't mean to be blunt but thats the fact of life we are faced with today! I know, been there and done that!

Apply for unemployment and also for disability. Could your insurance help you any? Can your wife work? She could get a job, yes it may not be the ideal situation but you do what you need to.
