Deuteronomy 7:7 The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:

God started with one man, Abraham and built up a nation through whom He would reveal his gift of salvation to all of the world. He did that so that people would know that it was God that was operating here on earth and not men.

Why He didn't pick another part of the world to do it in is open to speculation. But there are many possible explanations including the fact that Israel was in a prime location for the gospel message to spread throughout the rest of the civilized world.

There probably weren't very many people in Ireland at all in 4 B.C.; it made sense to send Him to a populated area, and one in which He both would and wouldn't fit in with the culture, because that mix helped His mission. If He had come in Japan, he wouldn't have had the chance to grow up in a Jewish community, which was a good thing for the Messiah to do since he was of the lineage of David, from among God's Chosen People. I'll have to say, it would have been hard to fulfill such prophecies as being from Bethlehem if he came to Japan, and when He wanted to go to the synagogue or refer to the Hebrew scriptures, no one would have known what He meant.

If you believe the bible.
Garden of Eden is in that area. some speculate the tree of life that Adam +Eve ate from was just outside Jerusalem.
Abraham left modern day Iraq To go to Israel.
They say Isaac was nearly sacrificed on that same hill. (As the tree).
They say Solomons temple was at that spot.
Jesus died on that hill.
Muslims made their 3rd holiest spot right there.

So that is a special spot.

Advantages of that spot - trade route between ancient babylon (Mesopatamia) and Egypt.
Cross roads of the Roman empire, so the Gospel can spread out easily.

God has some serious planning session going on. We may find out His reason someday.

This is a long detailed study that knowing history is a big part of. Let us say that He chose this time and place for some very strategic reasons like language development, power structure, available transportation, the social structure of the temple, and more but when one sees the whole picture it is a marvelously strategic decision.

Yeah and why a son and not a daughter? Everyone knows women run around trying to save everybody. And how come he only sent one son. Wouldn't two guarantee saving 2x as many soles? Who planned this seminar anyway?

If I'd of planned on sending someone: three daughters, one son. China, India, Brazil, and France. Skip the middle east, and they could all live!

The Jews were considered a chosen people because they believed in one god instead of many gods which was the vogue of the day.

Mormons believe that after Jesus was resurected he visited other peoples, including North America and established his Church there too.
