I don't know to much about huskys but I do know about labs. There are two different types of labs. The American Labs are the ones that have high energy. They need lots of space to run and play. If your the type to do lots of outdoor activities then this is the one for you. The other is the English Lab. They're more calm and relaxed. They make great house dogs. They're really great around children. I hope this helps out.
I had a English Lab. She went to a better place a few years ago, but she was the best dog ever. She seemed like she had human qualities. Very loving.

Huskeys :
Long hair need alot of grooming in the heat you would more than likely have to clip him, hunting dog if put in a situation with another dog their instinks are to hunt
Lab: well i breed them so i am a bit swayed to them but the don't grow up until the are 3 or older but they will bond with kids really quick and just want to please you all the time bit with any dog you should never leave you kids unattended with them. HAPPY LOOKING
LIKE WITH ANY ANIMAL JUST MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A GOOD BREEDER AND ASK TO SEE THEIR HIP AND ELBOW SCORES AND EYE CLEARANCES SO YOU KNOW THAT YOU ARE GETTING A GOOD PUP

if you live in a warm place, dont get a poor husky or the heat will be terrible. If you live in a cold place, either is good. Get husky if you dont mind the hair. labs are a little more hyper and may need a tad bit more exercise than the lab, but both are athletic. the lab might bebetter with kids. both are great dogs...good luck with the choice

I have a lab puppy (1 year old). I love him. BUT, I wouldn't do it again. He is very, very active. Like having a hyperactive child. He never stops. So, if you have boundless energy and time a lab is the one for you. If not, then they will find items to destroy thoughout your house. I can't imagine the husky could be any worse than the lab.

Jade's post was very good. She is right when she says huskies shed. You can't imagine it until you actually experience it. The only thing that I would add is do you have a cat? Huskies are usually not cat friendly. Being raised in a home with a cat already in residence may help the problem. But, they have been known to kill them. Ours was raised with cats so she just chases and teases them. However the husky breeder up the road from us routinely reports that his male has killed them and other small animals.

I have a black lab and they are the most loyalist dogs out there, they are real good with kids, and very eager to please. One bad thing is they shed alot. But other than that they are very happy dogs, and respectful. Mine is even a guard dog no body comes in my house if i am not here. so people have informed when when they come over when im home and wonder if they can come in with the dog out. I laugh and say dont snoop around my house and he wont bark and growl at you. But if im home hes the sweetest dog ever.

I say a Labrador, because I have a black lab, Leroy. He is my best friend, and he has been with me for 6 years now. He has traveled with me all around the country and put up with my crap and has never complained. I do not currently have children, but when we lived in neighborhoods with lots of kids, he was always the dog they all wanted to play with. For never having been around children, he was and is awesome! He listens to me, and is always in tune with my emotions and offers his support. He's smart as hell, and learns anything so easily, even now! So good luck with your new puppy, and I hope you get one as good as Leroy!

Yellow lab of course....much more friendly, loyal and energetic. Love to play, swim and love. A Husky is a beautiful dog, but not nearly as friendly, and need tons of space and attention. They will usually bust through anything to free themselves and run.

I love them both, and have had both as pets. If you choose the Lab, have extra chew toys around, Our puppy chewed everything in sight, including an oak tree that was as big around as my wrist. It was quite a sight to see her dragging a tree by the window.
I miss that tree!
Huskys are great dogs too.I would wrestle with mine. He loved a good fight, and knew how much to bite without hurting.
Both types are great in their own right, so go with your heart.
Now, will you answer my question too, please?

I can't choose for you but I'll give you some info that will help...
I can’t pick your dog for you but here are questions you should ask yourself and some tips that will help you decide...
1. Do you live in a cold area or warmer area?
Both breeds do well in both climates while huskies do better in colder climates and outside. Huskies do shed wildly in the spring though if they are kept as outside dogs in colder climates though...
2. Do you own poultry or birds?
Both breeds like to chase things but huskies have been known, because of the wolf heritage, to attack poultry or birds specifically. This isn't a concern with all huskies but I have seen it happen...
3. Are you active (I.E. Running, walking, outdoors stuff)?
Both breeds are working dogs meaning you need to be active to keep them healthy and entertained. Huskies love to be run and to go running with people on foot or even bikes, skateboards, or roller skates. They LOVE towing people behind while labs love to chase objects and finding things so both breeds require a park or space to run and play…
4. Do you live in a city or the country and do you have a large, fenced, yard?
Huskies do better in the country or places where you can offer them a place to run and play frequently. Labs can be kept in city environment effectively but need a great deal of outside time and play for their happiness. Both labs and huskies are very powerful but tie a husky to anything that weighs less than a ton and they will move it (Silva, our husky, moved a 1 ton truck 8 feet while chasing a porcupine in camp once). A five foot fence is recommended for huskies…
5. Do you live near water?
Both breeds love the water but labs absolutely adore it so having a clean water source for them to swim in is plus…
6. How much are you gone from the home?
Both are extremely smart and will try to escape or tear things up if you leave them alone too long, labs seem to be worse on the "tearing things up" part. Both breeds will “pine” over you and become depressed if left alone or not played with. Activity and access to the outside is key for animal happiness in both breeds…
7. Do you have children?
Huskies and labs are both good with children while huskies are usually somewhat milder and more tolerant with "abuse" as it's meted out by children. As huskies age they become more mild while some labs become somewhat aggressive and set in their ways as they get older. Both make good house dogs but labs make slightly better home protectors, naturally. Both will readily protect children and family members if provoked…
So, to conclude, they are both good breeds to have...Hopefully I've given you some ideas on how to choose for your needs based on your lifestyle. Good luck!
