they told her today that survival rate on medication is 90%, without medication, her survival rate is 0%. The problem is that the cost of the treatment is about 8 thousand dollars a month!!!!! does anyone know how to go about finding help to offset this cost?? she has medicare but the portion left after mcare pays is still far beyond what my mother brings in per month. If anyone has anyone has any suggestions please share...... and Please pray for her. Thanks

most drug companies have programs where they give out the medication for free to people that cannot afford it. Check with your dr to see if they know of any programs or contact the drug companies (that produce the medications your mother needs ) directly.

There are also many patient assistance programs in place to supplement medicare. She may also be able to go on disability while being treated and qualify for disability income and medicaid.

Matt, (myself) DOB. 1989 AML clinically determined July 5 06 I went by 7 rounds of Chemo and then a Bone Marrow Transplant on April 18 07. now i'm in remission, yet I nonetheless have flare united statesof GVHD Joe - DOB 1985. Died this morning Nov, 18 2007 AML clinically determined in August '06 Went by 2-3 rounds of chemo, a bone marrow transplant, and a donor lymphocyte infusion David- (my grandfather) he become clinically determined with AML and died from it (that is all i be attentive to approximately him)

Sorry about your mom. You should got to you local hospital and ask for information. They always have little pamphlets about how to get help with stuff like that. Hope that helps. Sorry once again. I will your mother in my prayers and you cause I don't know what I would do if I were in your position.

Baby.... I don't know If I can answer your question but I will tell you I will say a prayer... try contacting your local cancer association... there are many way you can go about getting help... and they will help you and possibily help you with counseling and help with other question you have.... i don't know the name of the site, but there is one that gives people free meds..my ex husband gets free meds.. maybe call the hospital near you and see if they know of a place. also check with human resource's.. sorry about your mom..

charity societies might help your mom......apply and tell your problem to some charity foundation
example....red cross,leakumia foundation
i'm not sure where you live so its hard
