Hi Doclester,

Under the Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction Act, you are entitled to get a free copy of the credit report each year. You can also avail the free copy under the following situations:

1. You have been denied credit due to information on the credit report and you wish to check it for errors, if any. You can request for the report within 60 days of loan denial.

2. You are unemployed and looking for a suitable job.

3. You wish to check out the report for any probable errors due to identity theft or frauds.

4. You could not get a suitable job offer due to incorrect information in the report.

For getting a free copy, you can visit www.annualcreditreport.com from where you can access your credit report online. Or else, you can check out with any of the three credit reporting agencies.

Thanks,

yes you are, depending on the state that you live in. Most states do. Call equifax, experian & transunion. Call 800-555-1212 to get the numbers and request the copy. you are also entitled to get one free if you have recently been denied credit. Make it a habit to get it every year if your state allows it. That way you can know what is on it
