Mouse traps are like a big spring. There is what appears to be a piece that looks like a U but square, you need to grab a hold of that piece and flip it to the far side holding it down , while taking the small little bent piece and inserting it into the slot on the other side.

Make sure you hold the trap diligently on its side while its in you hands because some traps are vert litely activated and it could snap w/o warning. Make sure you keep your fingers clear. You will catch tons of mice by placing peanut butter on the pad/bait area. Make sure not to handle a lot since they smell the scent of humans. Once a mouse is caught you can run a match over the surface area of the trap to get rid of the dead mouse's scent.

Good luck. If you get 10 in one day you can make a good soup. LOL

Snap Mouse and Rat Traps: Model M150, M201

Remove small staple holding locking bar to wood base.
Place bait inside curl found at end of bait pedal. Remove excess bait protruding from pedal.
Pull back bow and hold down with thumb.
With other hand, engage curved portion of the locking bar under small, V-shaped lip on bait pedal.
Place trap against wall with bait pedal facing the wall.
If trap draws ants, try using a small ball of cotton or strands of dental floss tied through hole in bait pedal curl.
