I consider myself a good, respectful, patriotic individual with strong family values, yet I'm considered an evil person by many people because I‘m not a Christian. I have the deepest respect for people’s beliefs but I don’t know why I’m condemned to internal damnation for not agreeing. When I consider that only about 35% of the world’s population is Christian why am I such a bad person? Is 65% of the world going to Hell? I would like an honest aswer, please do not tell me about Jesus or pray for me!

I find myself in a similar situation and have yet to come to a reasonable answer. I have been told that my unsettled feeling about this is due to my inherent rejection of Christ. I think this is a pile of crap. Anyone with any amount of inteligance is going to be upset if they have a steady stream of fear being thrown at them. As much as I would like to say "just ignore them" - I too find it incredibly unsettling. My only explenation is that we are inundated with Christian religion in the US. It is in the news, in books, newspapers, public sectors everywhere. It feels like more than 35% because of the amount of exposure. I can hardly go a day without hearing something about God, Christ or hell.

I guess the only thing I can offer is the feeling that you are not the only one who thinks this way and I don't believe you, I or the other 6 billion people who are non christian, are going to hell.

Guess you could take some solace in the fact that you're not alone. It's a question a lot of people have pondered for an awful long time, and still have no answer that will suffice. Be yourself, and know that not everyone here condemns you.

That surprises me. I thought of other minorities who often feel mistreated but it never occurred to me that an atheists would feel that way. Who mistreats you. Is it just people on answers. Every time I come on this sight some atheist puts on a questions about how come Christians are so crazy. also whenever someone is mad the yell Christ and disrespect my Lord, that makes me feel mistreated. Well I guess we feel the same way. What i can never understand is why people always use the Lords name in vain but never any other religious figures. You never hear someone yell Buddhas when they hurt themselves.

Most of my friends are Christians, and I work in an environment with everything East and West has to offer. My Muslim and Hindu friends are generally respectful of my beliefs/lack of beliefs as I am of theirs.

I have been well treated as an Atheist, but I do get the odd person who looks at me with pity or as if holding their tongue when someone else's child misbehaves.

As I get older, I notice it less and less and it matters to me less still.

Just continue being good and moral and people will respect you for the person you are, not what you claim to believe.

Who is mistreated?..I hardly consider a warning as mistreatment...that is like saying telling your kid if they play with fire they will get burned is wrong to do...it is a warning not a threat. If you know for sure there is no God and no possible way of "good people" going to hell then by all means stick to your guns, but if you are at all reluctant to say you KNOW for SURE then all I have to say is you better be right..see Christianity is not about rituals and rules and hate...it is about forgiveness and acceptance and redemption...I was the biggest sinner on the face of the earth and now my eyes have been open, if caring about you and hoping to see you in eternity is wrong I don't want to be right... I love people! The way I see it If I was walking by your house and it was burning and you were asleep I would bang on the door to wake you up...would you hate me for trying to save your life?

Well, I think it must be very hard on Christians to hear someone who is telling them everything they've been living for their entire life is fake. I can imagine the feeling, though I don't feel it myself, since I'm a part of the allegedly doomed 65% of the world.

I'm an atheist and I believe in all the for-mentioned things as well. I don't feel mistreated at all. I know that all those Christians out there who think I'm going to hell or whatever are just deluding themselves. I therefore feel pity for them.

The job of a faithful servant of God is to share the Gospel and " the gift" of Salvation. it is not for us to judge, we will only judge when we are in Heaven. The enemy on the other hand is the accuser of all brethren that includes you, if anyone judges you, that person is under the influence of Satan, granted, satan cannot make you do anything, he can only suggest. A real Christian will only try to bless and help you, remember many come in His name as an angel of light but is a ravening wolf, so don't judge the rest of us for some bad apples, we are supposed to be the light of the world, not darkness.
