New York to Orlando is a very busy route. The way to find the cheapest fare is to book as early as possible. The faster you book, the cheaper it will be.
Continental has lots of flights to Orlando. Try leaving from Newark instead of LaGuardia - it tends to be a little cheaper. Newark is just as far as LaGuardia is from Midtown Manhattan. One way fare on the bus to Newark from Port Authority is only $11. Cab fare is about the same to Newark as it is to LaGuardia. However, Newark is Continental's hub on the East Coast and Continental has lots of flights to Florida. Continental is considered to be the best US airline.

Go to the airlines homepage and check the fares. I've been told by people at the airlines the internet is usually cheaper than other ways. They usually have online specials, but they go quick. I'd check with Spirit, Jet Blue, & Southwest. Spirit used to, not sure if they still do, have these weekend cyber specials. Certain dates/destinations dirt cheap, can only buy them online and on a weekend.

Probably Air Tran or something out of Sanford (Samford?) Airport, just outside of Orlando. Try one of the travel sites.
