Being the best man is expensive trust me. You gotta through a bachelor party. Strippers, limos, alcohol. If any thing goes wrong on the grooms side you gotta fix it. But it is an honor none the less and a whole lotta fun. I've been in a few weddings and have only had the honor of being the best man once. But don't worry about it cause I got alot of friends but only one can be my best man when the day comes. Now Thats a hard choice.

Being a "best man" would depend on how close you are to the person getting married. If you are not that close with anybody, then you can expect not to be asked.
Regardless, you shouldn't feel bad about it. I've never been a bridesmaid nor a maid of honor but I did get married and asked my best friend(s) to be mine. They're the closest people to me aside from my family and my husband. And my husband has never been a best man either in his life. :) I don't think it's "part of being a man". Being a good husband is worth more of "being a man" than a being a best man. Chill out.

Do you view this as some kind of right of passage or something? Don't think anything of it. Not all weddings have them, you know. I was wed in the county clerk's office because I saw no reason to spend money on a fancy wedding when the courthouse could do it so much less fanfare. He didn't have a best man and I didn't have a maid of honor.

First of all they probably don't make moo moos that look like Tux's.
Secondly they are probably afraid that in group wedding party pictures you would overshadow the groom both literally and figuratively...literally casting a shadow and figuratively looking better than the groom.

Best Man?
Please don't feel rejected, there is nothing wrong. There are just too many Best Men around: brothers, uncles, cousins etc.
Be your best, always - and proud of it and and happy.
