You can soak your feet in epsom salts. It softens the skin, and will make it easier to pull back. Wear sandals for a while if you can.

When they are really sore make sure they are clean around and under the very edges. Then, the most important thing is if they are ingrown, Trim nail is a low v shape. The outside higher than the middle. This will cause the toenail to grow inward away from those tender edges. Once it gets back on track trim strait across.

there are only two "secrets" to preventing ingrown toenails. 1. Cut your nails square across the end of the toe. Never cut the nail back behind the tip of the toe. 2. Wear shoes that have a wide "box", or toe. Never get shoes that squeeze the toes together. If you have any question about this, ask your family doctor about it at your next visit. I have to agree with, though. The best treatment is prevention.

Go see a podiatrist - foot specialist - to see if you can have a phenolation. You get a toe block and the ingrown toenail piece is replaced with a small insert so you'll never have ingrown toenails again. Also - watch out for the too-tight shoes!

OK this is what i did. I TOOK a tweezers and some cotton balls. I TOOK tiny bits of cotton and stuffed it behind the toe nails that were ingrown.AFTER a week it got better. BUT when you trim your toes next time do them straight across. DONT ROUND them thats what causes them to ingrow.GOODLUCK
