An opera in Germany was cancelled due to the police telling the Opera Manager that there would be danger to the public because one of the characters in the play was Mohammed, (I believe Jesus and Moses were represented in this play also) How can I understand why frightening Artists is a good thing????

The religion I believe in says that faiths of all kinds share the same God and that you do prophets no honour by killing anyone in or hurting someone in their name. It was wrong during the Inquisition and it is still wrong now.

Marissa: just wanted to let you know, wearing a cross isn't worshipping a cross. You cannot worship a graven image. The cross represents and or reminds us of something. We don't worship it.

You have to understand that Islam does not accept presenting Prophets and Messengers, in the form of a sculpture, drawing, painting, or any form of art, and yes, including actors.
That's mainly out of respect for these important people who were chosen by God to guide humanity towards the right path, and to prevent artists from imposing superficial, and untrue images of these highly regarded figures on the rest of us.
Everyone has the right to imagine in their mind, what they once looked like, from a description of what they did during their life on Earth through scripture.
Anything aside from the real thing is false conjecture.

If one truly wants to respect the other people's believe and faith. One must understand that for islam. It is considered blashphemous to assume the image of Allah. What I mean is does anyone really know what Allah looks like. No.
If your going to base the rioting as disprove that Muhammed is a good, peaceful god. Then Jesus and the Christians aren't exactly good also, think of what the Crusades did. What some of the people here in yahoo questions behave towards those atheist, those of other beliefs.
I would agree, y god whoever he is. Just show up tell these people will be stop being to judgemental. You are no bed of roses either.

Is there any group that mock Jesus in some comic portrayal? How did the Christians react? Let's wait and see. If Christians behaved like muslims then your question must be rephrase to include Christians.
Assuming both had their fair share of religious mockery but only Islam reacted excessively with violence then there's really something wrong with their religion.

i can understand that in their religion that to portray a prophet is not allowed,,,,
however murder is also not allowed, so how do they reconcile the breaking of one rule with the breaking of another.
some things may be offensive. but no drawing or book is worth killing over.
i am offended almost everytime that hollywood portrays a witch or pagan in a movie ot tv show, because they almost always get it totally wrong and then teenagers start to play with what they saw on the movie and end up in a lot or trouble. but i do not go bomb hollywood.

Maybe because they still love their prophit as if he's still alive... it's something called respect.
If Christians and Jews don't respect Jesus and Moses, Muslims are not obliged to do the same.
Maybe they don't want some drunk, gay actor to represent their prophit. If you don't understand why they get angry, then you don't respect your own religion, if you have any.

are u practising ur religion correctly? if u do, then how come have u forgotten this?
Exodus 20:4-6 records the Second Commandment. Here is God’s explicit directive: “YOU SHALL NOT MAKE UNTO YOU ANY GRAVEN IMAGE, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: you shall not bow down yourself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me; and showing mercy unto thousands of them that love Me, and keep My commandments.”
Not only are these pictures and images forbidden, those that supposedly represent Christ bear no resemblance whatsoever to the way He really appeared. For instance, we know that Christ was Jewish, as the Bible states: “For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Judah” (Heb. 7:14).
Leviticus 26:1 warns, “You shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall you set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the Lord your God.”
“Then you shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places” (Num. 33:52).
God specifically defined the forbidden ways that were used to worship idols. He realized human nature’s tendency to justify loopholes around His instructions.
love for God and His Prophets whould be in our hearts not lip servicing and in form of pictures, tasbis and crosses.
