idid not know whether running alone will make the whey protein effective and build more muscle on my body. I am 5'3 110lbs, i don't really want to lose weight but just focus building muscle on my legs.

Like it or not, running 2-3 miles a day at decent speed (say 8 minute mile or faster) will help build muscle at your legs, but only to a certain degree.

If you want to tone up, great exercise. If you want to build musles (why?), then weight training is a must.

Absolutely, whey protein is one of the best things out that will help you. Personally im on the schedule of running 6-8 miles a night, this alone without whey protein, I gain roughly a half pound a week in muscle weight and drop my bfp .02%. Currently I am 5' 11" and 188 lbs, this also depends on the style of running you take part in. If your looking for the best way to build muscle in your legs you should up your distance by 2-3 miles and run it at a slow steady pace. Being a boxer, I now for a fact one of the best ways to gain muscle weight is protein. You should start the protein at 30-35 grams/day. On your request of toning and gaining weight, you should run impliments of jog's and sprint's. The conditioning method I was taught was running 1 mile sections interchagning between a jog and a sprint every 50 yeards. Good luck and I hope you find some satisfying results.

My ideas? Try to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. Work hard, but don't over 60 minutes at a time. Do planks and other abs exercises on alternate days.

On training days, do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.

The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!

Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.

Read magazines like Shape, Womens Fitness, Fitness, etc to get tips and to stay motivated.

Good luck and stick at it. This plan has lost me 20 lbs in 12 weeks so far, just go for it!

Running is good, but had more of a cardiovascular effect. If you want to build muscle mass - or even if you don't - two to three days eack week should also include a little strength training. If you're looking for tone more than bulk, foucus on several, slow and controlled reps, rather than "power" lifting. The amount you lift isn't as important as proper form.

Won't build muscle, you would need weight training for that.
