We use MS Outlook under MS Exchange. The rules only work when Outlook is open. But I want the rules to work when Outlook is not running and I am checking my email via the web. The rules appear on the web based email client but only take affect when the email arrive into the outlook inbox.

You can't, when you create a rule and exchange warns you that this is a "Client Only" rule. I cheat and leave my workstation logged on and locked at work, with Outlook Open. Sounds silly but it works for me.

You have to set the same rules in web-based, if they have that capability. The forwarded web mail does not have that ability until they actually arrive in Outlook. It is an Outlook feature.

Hope that helps.
