You know how people say if you don't beleive in God, you're going to Hell? Isn't that like saying that if you don't believe in what thye say, you're screwed? There was a time when Christians were punished for beleiving what they believe. How is it different?

I understand your reason for asking this question. But keep in mind what man says isn't always the same as what God says. What does God say exactly? Read the bible. Don't be fooled with the old excuse "The bible was written by man." Some things must be accepted on faith. God gave direction on writing the bible. God is not capable of making a mistake. So you must decide if you want to accept the bible as truth. If you try to Reason a gift from God, you won't be able to do it. You must accept his love by faith. Yes it's true, God does not tolerate sin. But remember he loves his creation and wants to fellowship with us much more than he wishes to turn us away. So I think it's best to dwell on the love of God and worship because of his goodness than it is to dwell on fear and the possibility of hell. People can be hypocrites-- not God. Don't blame him for man's errors. God is truly a father who waits to love his children, but they must come to him willingly.

If you read Revelation you will find that once again Christians will be punished for believing Jesus is the son of God and our Savior.

Well, we know how the world began, how we can be
blessed by living for Him now, and the good book (the
Bible) even tells us how it will all end. It's a book that
has been a best seller for many, many years and I would
suggest you read it. But, you know, Christianity is a choice.
So, it's up to you if after death on this earth, you live an
eternity or if you stay in the grave.

God is the standard. Not religion, not Christians.

You're right, Christians have frequently been punished for their beliefs. But comfort is not the measure of truth.

There is unmitigated truth in the Universe. There is also fiction. You can follow anything you want, but you can also be wrong. Dead wrong.

No, it's like saying, "If you don't take exit 41 off the Purchase Parkway, you're going to miss my house."

Christians are not trying to punish or condemn others. Christians don't send anyone to hell. They believe in the reality of hell, and are therefore trying to warn others because they care. I apologize for those who have hijacked the name of Christianity and have not been caring, by the way.

Because athiests are not murdered for their non-beliefs. In fact many Christians face the same persecution that you are speaking of today.
