Not to worry, I rushed him straight to the vet and he made it out of surgery just fine. My concern is, the Vet told me the tail looked like a clean cut....as if someone had cut it off. It was cut very close to the cat and not even a stub left. How can I pursue this....I mean can I call the police for somehing like this? I don't know who would do such a cruel thing and am thinking it may have been a teen or some physco adult, neighbor. I do not know any of my neighbors but I want to find out who did it so I can kick their butt if not anything else. Any advice would be appreciated. Any advice on the aftercare greatly appreciated also.

I never thought about the fan of a truck. I will ask the Vet if he thinks it looks like that. Hopefully for my neighbors sake because that would be considered an accident, in my eyes.

I am sure if it happened by the fan of a truck the person who owned the truck would have known about it by the sound of the cat's pain.
He also would have blood on the bonnet.
I would report it to the appropriate animal cruelty people because if someone is behaving in this way toward helpless animals there may be other cases and it will be on record.
Or yours will be on record for future reference which will give them a better chance of tracking the offenders and bringing them to justice.
Take care!

You can take someone to court over this if you have proof. This is destruction of property and animal abuse. However, if you don't have proof (i.e. you find out about a tape or you--ugh--find the tail).
Make sure you keep the stitches/area clean, and that includes keeping an eye on him after he uses the litter box. Make sure he doesn't try to scratch or bite at it at all.
We think the same thing happened to my mom's cat. He's Siamese, 100%, and they have tails; however, HE doesn't. He is fine and doesn't even notice that he doesn't have one--to the point where he acts like he does at times.

This is probably not the first or last time this cruel psycho has done this (a serial killer in the making). Report this with animal control authorities, post posters everywhere in your neighborhood decribing this incident, let all local vets know that this took place & to keep an eye out for cats brought in with this atrocity. BE THE SQUEEKY WHEEL & let anyone & everyone know that there is someone in your midst (including police) committing this horrible crime. Thank you for telling us! Oh to ans. the?? Just try to keep her comfortable & watch carefully that she is healing properly.

I'm sorry about your cat. Someone ran mine down right in front of my house and left her there bleeding in the gutter. If I hurt someones pet I would be so upset. I'm not sure there's much you can do, no one will admit to anything. Maybe you should report it to the police, that way they know its going on in your area, it may have happened to someone else too.

You must be furioius. What a cruel thing. i keep my cat at home because I was told a little girl on the block was trying to hit him with a shovel. Can you imagine? A little girl.
anyway, just want to say that it was a terrible thing and I am angry with you. I hope your cat recovers properly. Please keep him at home from now on. Even his balance will be different without a tale,

Ooo yeah it probably got up in your car when it happened. Sorry about your kitty! But if someone did that they are cruel. Someone poisoned one of our cats once. It was terrible. He didn't make it. Be thankful your kitty will be ok! Besides bobtailed cats are cute! We had one and he looked, hopped, and his fur felt just like a rabbit!

cats should not be allowed to run loose outside. they kill all types of wildlife as well as being the target for dogs, coyotes, racoons, other feral cats, and yes even psychos. if you love the cat keep it inside. cats do not NEED to go outside at all. mine is 12 and he's never been outside and he's the happiest cat ever. besides the fact many states and cities have leash laws that cover cats as well as dogs. while someone hurting your cat is horrible you need to keep it safe. if its on someone elses property they can trap or kill it legally in many areas.

See if you can find out (on the QT) who was responsible. No one ASPCA, SPCA, cops, lawyers or anyone else will do anything because no one saw it happen. Sorry, but it happened to me and my Peke. I knew who killed her but was told by all I contacted that nothing could be done as no one saw it happen.
I am sorry about your kitty.

The cops should be able to tell you your rights. It would help if u know the suspect. poor thing, i wish i could hold him and make his pain go away.
