I am writing a lesson plan for preschoolers talking about growing. I have to have a song and I know a really good one that uses the word grow several times, but it is religious and this is a public school (boo on that law). Anyway, I am trying to think of a way to change the lyrics, here are the lyrics to the song I am trying to change:

Read your bible
Pray everyday
Pray everyday
Pray everyday
Read your bible
Pray everyday
and you'll grow, grow, grow
and you'll grow, grow, grow
and you'll grow, grow, grow
Read your bible
pray everyday
and you'll grow, grow, grow

*I thought about maybe...."Eat your vegetables and drink your milk" but I dunno...any ideas would be a huge help. Thanks.

Exercise and
eat healthy food

eat healthy food
Exercise and
eat healthy food
and you'll grow, grow, grow
and you'll grow, grow, grow
and you'll grow, grow, grow
Exercise and eat healthy food
and you'll grow, grow, grow

Then you can work with the kids to add fun movements that go with the words. You can even come up with new verses with their help. like... eat bananas and apples too... or hug your parents, play with your friends... and you can also change up the you'll grow grow grow part.

I'm gald your changing the lyrics. If you were my daughters teacher I would pull her out or get you fired. Unless you are teaching at a private christian school, of course.
Their are many childrens songs and lyrics available to you that are not religious, you just ahve to find them.
If you want to sing those kind of songs (about praying and such, get a job at your local private christion school.
Good Luck

Instead of "read your bible" how about "Read His book" after all this is the written word of God, so it is His book! For "Pray everyday" try to change it to something like "Be thankful everyday" I know how tricky all of this nonsense is. I am a 4th grade teacher and the laws are rediculous. But always remember that as Christians it is our responsibility to spread the word. Sometimes we have to sidestep some of these crazy laws created by men.
Peace!

Here's what my son's preschool teachers came up with:

Brush, brush, brush your teeth
Each and every day.
Keep your smile shining bright,
Morning, noon, every night.
Brush brush brush
Brush brush brush

It's cute and it helps the little ones to remember to brush their teeth!

I don't know about growing, but it's the only song I've heard with that beat sequence.

yes, if you are in a public school you better go with "eat your vegetables and drink your milk" the other way you are just inviting trouble from parents and staff and the state and federal govt.. good luck to you
