I have tried washing my hair with soap and some strong dandruff shampoo, but I still have this oily residue on the top of my head close to my scalp, it kind of seems like there is leftover hair product in my hair, but I haven't used anything.

it seems like hairspray residue, although this is the first time I have had this issue and I don't use hairspray, or any hair product, often

For me the least expensive & easiest way is plain baking soda. It's wonderful for removing build-up. Use your regular shampoo, then add a handful of baking soda & lather again. You may also let it sit for a minute or so. Rinse, & you will feel the squeaky clean hair. Another way & it may be a bit harsh is use dishwashing liquid. It gets it sqeaky clean as well, I wouldn't use the dish liquid often but the baking soda can be done once a weel. Baking soda is also an excellent exfoliant to clean your face. Make a paste in your hand, and after cleansing your face use the soda paste with gentle circular motions & when you rinse your skin will feel very smooth. I find it's better than any of the high priced exfoliators on the market. And it's 50 cents a box. You can go wrong.

believe it or not, vinegar is one of the best ways to get rid of shampoo residue because of its low acidic qualities. it will work to take away the residue without damaging your hair or skin. heres a good recipe found on coolnurse.com

Combine 1 cup of vinegar and a couple of tablespoons of dried rosemary in a glass or microwaveable bowl. Put the mixture into the microwave for 1 minute and 30 seconds. Next, use a spoon to crush the rosemary on the side of the glass bowl to release the fragrance. Strain the mixture and let it cool before using. Apply to hair after shampooing, leave on for 2 minutes, then rinse out with cool water. It sounds like more work than it is.

I once had this very annoying problem, especially that I have dark hair.I used a thick shampoo I bought and the top of my head had so much oil in it,it looked like I hadnt washed my hair for a week!I called my aunt which is a cosmetologist, and she said to use dawn dish soap! I was suprised but was willing to try anything.I used dawn two times washing my hair over and over, and the oil went away.Try it,youll be very pleased with the results!

I found 2 cups water and 1 Tbps of vinegar makes the residue come out and actually makes my hair softer than usual. I make about 30 cups of water and 15 Tbsp of vinegar in a clean bucket and soak my hair and scalp you can actually see the water change. I do it once a month. It really works. Just make sure you don't have any cuts on your head otherwise it might hurt.

get a product remover shampoo. I have used one from Tressa called Rid All. It worked really great! It removed green chlorine color from my hair. BUT beware if you color (other than bleach) it may take some color out.
