When going through the initial selection process of jury selection, how many prospective jurors can the defense and the prosecution dismiss? This is a murder trial, not sure if it is a death penalty case or not.

It may vary from state to state. Check the laws of your state for how many strikes are allowed.

I'm guessing you should search for voir dire and strikes.

I was involved in a case in a small community in which both the defendent and the plaintiff were well known popular people. They went through everyone that reported for jury duty, and the sheriff ended up sending deputies door to door to round up more. I'm not sure how many were dismissed, but it was a lot.

This was in North Dakota.

It depends on state laws & county laws.
In our state it is 6 for no reason, any amount for just cause to be decided by Judge.
