I love weird questions! No, I don't believe braces are removed prior to burial. What would be the point? They certainly wouldn't plan to reuse them in someone else's mouth --Eeww! Come to think of it though, I have never seen a skeleton with braces on its teeth, so your question may not be so wierd after all.

Metal that is able to be removed will be if you are being cremated.
But Not when you are buried. Unless it is made of Gold and you die somewhere that it is so highly valued that it would get stolen.

Braces would come off before a cremation but not a normal burial. I'm curious, why did you ask this question?

Not unless they are part of a trauma and are already, at least, partially gone. Usually, these types of "permanent" fixtures are left as is, as the mouth is sutured before a viewing.
