The term seeing someone is used by the emotionally dysfunctional that can't handle the slightest suggestion of commitment, even if it is only for one night. Dating is used to describe the same social situation when it is performed by mature people that are confident in themselves and what they have to offer someone else.
Sorry. I didn't mean to get all "Dr. Phil" on you. They are the same in actuality.

I think you say "seeing someone", if you are boyfriend- girlfriend with that someone...and "dating someone" would be definitely more like a tryout....observing kind of seeing....because you can date more than one person... if you are not seeing someone.

I usually "see" women on the internet for $30 a month and daily updates. Dating is with like a real woman who you talk to and maybe go places with.

Seeing someone is going out on dates or just plain ****ing, but never friendship, but not exclusive. Dating someone is one hundred percent, violin with strings attatched, no cheating, not an affair, dating.

Technically in a guys perspective...seeing someone could be just for the sex....Dating someone...taking them out on dates...hoping to get laid everynight...
Girls point of view....seeing a guy means you are pretty much off the market...
DATING someone your married already

i never understood that either ... i think seeing someone is like a tryout ... dating is on it's way to a relationship ... that would be my interpretation of it.
