Mt. Hood used to have really cheap night skiing/snowboarding after 4 pm, but I don't know if they still do that (I lived there 5 years ago). Tons of bars in downtown Portland so the nightlife is good. Lots of scenery, too. Just come prepared for rain, because you'll get it every day you're there (sometimes drizzle, sometimes pouring rain)

Portland, Oregon or Portland, Maine???
Oregon... Skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing- if you like going to the mountains. For the city I suggest Zoo lights and peacock lane (houses decorated every year) and boat lights - these are boats with lights that go down the Columbia river... I'm sure there are other events. See this website-

It's going to be raining. TrailBlazer basketball. Portland has a pretty famous "rose garden," but I don't know its status in the winter.

Drink lots of micro beer. Go to mount hood. Go to Saturday Market. Go to a Blazers or a WinterHawks game. Repeat ad nauseum.
P.S. Peacock Lane doesn't begin until mid-December
