Do you have to cite the text book??? or just the author of the assay?? and while using in-text citation would you put the page number of the text book????

Depends what style you professor wants. Go to the library and look it up. There are style guides there.

put the author at the end of the page. Then at the end of the report when you cite all your sources put the book the page number, line, and all that jazz.

What I would do is look in the textbook to find the bibliographic information for that essay, and cite that.
