Ok heres why i think it isn't Illegal. First of all it's like someone giving you there copy of whatever it is. When me and my friends have copies of stuff, we share with each other, shouldn't that be considerd illegal because im letting him borrow my game so he can have it. Theres no reason it should be illegal there just giving you there stuff, hence it's not illegal, and it's not stealing. So come on don't you see why it's not Illegal! Another reason i say this is because it's like when i make copies of stuff for friends for free, then someone my friends know makes a copy of it, that person makes a copy of that copy and so on and so on, where in that is it illegal? Please tell me what you think, because in my opinion theres nothin illegal about it.

If you are simplying allowing someone to borrow something you do not have it yourself, therefore you only have one copy. With firesharing, you can give someone else the product and keep it yourself.

Basically the big companies argument is that by making someone else a copy, you are stopping them from buying it indirectly causing them to lose money.

If you give a copy to your friend, and delete your copy, then it's not illegal.

The legality is that people are supposed to pay for every copy that is used.

Here's a thought: Imagine for a minute that the food replicators in Star Trek are possible. You take a machine - feed it an item of food - and then it makes as many copies as you want. So, you take your portable replicator down to McPukes with all your friends - buy one meal deal, and then make free copies for everyone else in line behind you to eat. Would the restaurant be upset with you? How long would they stay in business if you give out free copies of their food from now on?

If you are depriving the person holding the copyright of money that they would earn.. then you are stealing their property and it is illegal...

Most modern software is not "sold" to you but rather is "licensed" to your for YOUR use and might not be transferable to anyone else...

I hope that you become a famous software writer... spend 3 or 4 years of your life writing a good program.. and find out that people are pirating your software all over the globe.. while you get paid nearly nothing in royalties for a program that is used in nearly every household... and I hope that you still feel that it is not illegal.

The reason that it's illegal is because you're not actually sharing. You're letting someone "have" a copy of your file.

I never thought it was illegal. It's just people sharing there files with other people. What each of us do with our own personal files is nobody's business. Like I would share mine with freinds and family. That's not illegal. I totally agree with you on all points.

Stealing from walmart isn't illegal either then -- because they're just letting you use their games.
