Dogs like people are individuals! You never get two identical in personalities. Perfection in a dog is unique to the individual who has them as a companion. (Sorry I never refer to it as owning a dog. Dogs are living beings. We have merely gotten the pleasure of choosing them as our companions) I have two dogs, very different in personality. I think they're both perfect. How can I not? They are loyal, give unconditional love, and they don't tell anyone my secrets or mistakes. They never have a TV show to watch or somewhere better to be when you need their company. They are there for you no matter what, though it sometimes means a treat as a bribe. To me no matter how big, small, dark, light, flat faced, long nosed, pointy eared or floppy eared, all dogs can be perfect. They only need the love and guidance to be that way.

I agree with the author, just like people...there is no perfect dog. I've had a variety of dogs in my life. When I was really young, a Boston Terrier, 2 chihuahuas, a Cocker Spaniel. As an adult, a Keeshond and Rat Terrier. For me the Rat Terrier is my perfect dog, he's smart, not too big, he sheds but that's easily remedied we have a good vacuum cleaner. But it's just such an individual thing. Whatever you are looking for in a dog sometimes the puppy will grow into that dog...but not always. I do think that dogs want to please the master/mistress.

The perfect dog is different for everyone. The perfect dog is the dog that has the qualities that you want in a dog.

I would say its the look of the dog and its personality. If a dog is annoying and barks all the time - it is not the perfect dog.

Depending on what you want it to do; temperment is important to me, as I raised herd dogs. They need to be smart, obedient, and quick on their feet.
Indoor dogs usually need to be more stationary, less excitable.

Well it depends on what you are looking for.I would perfer a dog that is easy to take care of.short haired. loveable, a RAT TERRIER
