That would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

His Dad got him into the Texas Air National Guard so that he wouldn't get drafted. He was trained on an aircraft that he knew would never be used in Vietnam. It has been alleged that once in became clear in 1972 that no one else was going to be sent to Vietnam he basically blew off the rest of his six-year commitment.

I'm sure he got laid a lot by saying he was a jet pilot, so maybe he's a hero to some folks..........

Are you referring to his outstanding war service during the VietNam War where he single-handedly got the state of Alabama to hand over all the Viet Cong hiding in the Congressional districts he was campaigning in while being AWOL from the Air National Guard? Such heroic behavior obviously should not go unrewarded for wounds received in battle - I hear he actually cut his finger opening a beer can with a can opener and burned his fingers while smoking something funny and he couldn't find a roach clip. As war heroes go, they just don't get much more heroic than Dubya!!! Did you know he received the medal of the golden chicken, awarded by the National Guard to the richest kid whose Daddy got him out of actual military service? Way to go Dubya!!

Well if landing on an Aircraft Carrier and standing under a great big banner declaring that the war was over when in fact it hadn't even begun yet makes him a hero, then I guess that in his mommy's eyes, he is a hero.

Actually, no. George Walker Bush (Our current President) has never served in hostile action (not in the military, at least), while he HAS served in the military. However, ...his actions as President during and immediately after the 9/11 attacks qualifies him as a war hero in my personal book. I don't agree with his war in Iraq, but I think he handled 9/11 very well.

His Father, George Herbert Walker Bush (he likes to be called "No. 41") in actuality is a war hero from World War II. Flying 58 missions as a torpedo bomber pilot in the Pacific theater of operations, George H.W. Bush was shot down by enemy anti-aircraft fire and subsequently rescued by a U.S. Navy Submarine. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (known in the Navy as the "DFC") for bravery in the face of the enemy.

The question should be put as...."Is G.W. Bush a war hero?"
The answer is yes he is. Since 9/11 have we had any other terrorist attacks against the United States? Haven't we kept the fighting in THEIR country and not ours?

I think this can be spun in his favor. War makes mega bucks for Corporations and rich Republicans. That makes him a war hero in their eyes.

Junior no. Senior yes. Daddy Bush at the time was the youngest pilot ever in the Navy. He flew 58 combat missions during WWII and was shot down by Japenese anti-aircraft.
