Jesus summed up all the Commandments with the Great Commandment.
Matthew 22:36-39 states:
"Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?"
He said to him, "You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
With love in Christ.

The "Ten Commandments" is the base line for the Old Testament. "Deuteronomy" has many more laws based on the "Ten Commandments" ... here is the outline for modern day inheritance laws - dietary restrictions (no pig, lobster, tattoos, etc - etc- etc). Today's Jewish people have around 500 commandments they try to achieve based off Leviticus, Numbers, & Deuteronomy (so I'm told by my step mom's husband).
However, Jesus simplified the "Ten Commandments" into two with the "Golden Rule" === Love God above All & Love others as you love yourself
Breaking down the "Ten Commandments" we can see that loving God wity all our hearts, souls, minds, strenghts covers the first three of the "Ten Commandments" --- 1. I am the Lord you should have other Gods before me. 2. You shouldn't take the Lords name in vain 3. Keep holy the Lords Day (goto church).
While Loving our neighbors as we love ourselves covers 4-10 of the "Ten Commandments" ... 4. Honor dad & mom. 5. Don't kill 6. Don't commit adultery. 7. Don't steal. 8. Don't bear false witness (gossip, lie, etc) on your neighbor 9. Don't drool over neigbors wife/ husband (don't be jealous) 10. Don't drool over your neighbors stuff (cars, house, intelligence, good looks, etc).
The simple rule is so much easier than remembering 500 rules! Thanks Jesus.

There is one commandment in the New Testament. It appears in John's Gospel, 13:34, and again in Chapter 15. "This is my commandment; love one another as I have loved you."

They say there were 15 but Moses dropped the tablets when he saw what was going on when he returned so we only have ten. Moses was on the mountain two years before he came down.
