DO NOT use any water-based product like vinegar, it will only damage the leather. My cat peed on my Marc Jacobs tote and I thought it was a lost cause. After searching the web I found Odor Destroyer by Powerhouse Products. It's a solvent-based product designed for leather furniture and wood, but it worked great on my bag. It leaves a solvent odor behind, but that will fade over time. It worked great and my tote is as good as new, even the glove-leather lining! Shake the container well, spray inside and out, then hang to dry. You will not be disappointed!

Unfortunately this is a bit tricky. Your purse is leather so you can't wash it. You need a good odor absorber. AND you need to handle the leather carefully. A great odor absorber is "20 Mule Team Borax". This is a so-called "laundry booster" and is sold in the detergent sections of supermarkets. Dealing with the leather - you need to find a liquid that you can use on leather. Leather cleaner sprays, oil soaps come to mind.
First clean the soiled portion of the leather purse with an appropriate cleaner meant for leather. [spray-on leather cleaner, Murphy's oil soap , or whatever your local store has available.]
Moisten the soiled portion just enough so that it remains "damp to the touch". Then fill the inside of the purse with borax. Lay the purse down - soiled side up. And then cover the soiled, still damp area with more borax. (If your leather purse is very delicate: you may want to "stuff" the inside with some newspaper so it keeps it's shape)
Let the purse sit for a day. Then remove the borax from the purse.
Usually the borax will remove almost all of any kind of odor.

Tell the friend to buy you a new purse, or you are going to knock off the cat.
You know...a purse for a pussycat.
But you will never get the smell out.

Use a product called "eliminator"... it is a liquid bacteria spray used to eliminate urin on or in any surface.... basically the bacteria in the bottle kill the bacteria in the urin that cause that smell... also on floors cats will return to their 'pee spot' after the 'smell' is gone because they can pick up on the bacterial residue from their urin. So... Eliminator bacteria, kills the urin bacteria, and it smells good too- plus it's safe and all natural to use. Believe me, this stuff works. Try searching for it on line, or at an industrial cleaning supply place. Good luck!

Sorry to tell you, but you probably won't. It may be ruined anyway, but try this - mix original Listerine mouthwash with an equal amount of water (e.g. a half cup of each), and wash the purse with it, over and over, inside and out. It's worth a try - we've used it for leather shoes.

You poor poor soul. If it was furniture or clothing I'd say you had a chance.... well you still may have a chance. Try nature's miracle. If that doesn't work, try it again. If that doesn't work; get a new purse. Unless it's prada or something; then you'll just have to walk around smelling like cat p*ss, and that is one awful smell.
My cat peed in my car once. It took 2 years for the smell to go away ( And i constantly cleaned it)
good luck sweetie.

You can usually find enzyme cleaners that will remove the smell, even on leather. There are dozens of products out there, so you might want to try shopping around Google.

You MIGHT try a dry cleaner that specializes in leather. But they will either reject you right away, or have you sign a waiver saying that they are not responsible for what happens to the purse. I wouldn't think that it would work, either, but you might think it's worth a shot.
