It depends on your problems and, most importantly, your attitude towards your problems. Magical thinking, as some call faith in the unseen and unknowable, can help with certain problems, and if it changes your attitude for the better, then that is a large part of the battle. It could turn the tide and stabilize your mental state so that you could give up the meds; however, I don't know what meds you're on and for what mental problem, so I can't say definitively that the meds aren't necessary. Sometimes mental problems are caused by organic problems, and those often require medication. Whatever you do, get professional advice from several sources before you decide to quit taking meds (it is not a good idea to stop them cold turkey because of the possibility of withdrawal effects).

My personal opinion is that all other options should be exhausted before one throws medication at the problem, so ask yourself if there is another way. God might be a good path for you, or you might benefit from cognitive behavioral therapy. However, I don't suggest you simply stop treating your problem when you turn your life over to God. But be open to the possibility of alternate methods of problem solving. Cheers!

Stay on the meds....give God a chance to work in your life with the meds....ask Him to remove the mental problems but wait for confirmation from a qualified doctor.....don't just stop taking the meds....it's called discernment and that's how God works.

I have never seen it happen. Stay on your meds and continue with your therapy. If the meds keep you stable, they are a good thing. Please don't lose sight of that.
