Start saving now!
You don't have to have a theme - often themes can cost alot of money and they make for fairly tacky weddings in the end.
You can barter with places and get good prices organised - also try contacting a local radio station or newspaper - they love feel-good stories like this. However, beware, they won't want to do too much this early.
You've set a date that is practical but the only thing you can do at this stage is start finding out prices and saving towards a budget.
Congratulations.

Hey, there is a really good website called Fire Your Wedding Planner. Even if you decide to find a wedding planner, you can always ask him or her to follow the tips on the website, like how to get your photographer to give you the negatives for free, buying a less expensive wedding cake, getting a dress or tux on sale, or even on how to print your own wedding bulletins and invitations. You may also consider using the services at a local vocational high school, since they may get lots of extra credit by using the wedding items they make for you as part of their projects or exams. If you have a particular location you want to have the ceremony, check to see if you can get a discount for using the same site for the reception. However, if you get married in a church, some churches don't allow dancing or alcohol if you hold the reception in their fellowship hall.

try a potluck or just tea/dessert light sandwich reception perhaps an evening ceremony/reception maybe a candle or moonlight reception etc. Do your own flowers silk is cheaper than real if you go with real do it yourself choose flowers in season. Enlist the help of close friends/co-workers family that can help with DJ/MC, photography/videography etc. Perhaps a large backyard, botantical gardend and rent a tent for the reception and having both the ceremony and reception at the same place will save $$ Perhaps make your own invites, centerpieces placecards, favours thank you cards etc balloons in your colours are an inexpensive alternative to a floral decorations as well as lights/lanterns etc. Just get creative and you will find tons of money saving ideas but if you start saving now you should be in good shape for that date :) best of luck to you

I am getting married in June and we are planning a Celtic, medieval wedding. For clothing and food ideas you could check the society for creative anachronism. SCA. And hey who doesn't want a fairy tale wedding? As for dresses try EBay. Do searches for medieval clothing. Some very elaborate dresses there from 100 to 500. Congrats!

beats me why you would want to wait that long;
I recently made bridesmaids for a lady who had been planning her wedding for 18months - sad that in the end was too long a time frame
to keep cost down - keep things simple- finger food rather than a sit-down meal; lunch time rather than later in the day.; afternoon tea
only 1 attendant each- OR NO attendants - just someone to sign the register for you as witnesses.
you dont have to spend a fortune on a gown to still have a beutiful one.
if friends/family offer to help - accept - suggest that maybe they pay for flowers;cake;wedding album as your wedding gift
make your own invitations & wedding favours if u r having them
keep the guest list to just those people who are REALLY important to you & your fiance
USE your IMAGINATION

The best thing for you to do is to save money up. You have a few years to do this. Save, Save, Save!! This way prices aren't a surprise and you can add that little extra touch because you have the money! YOu can also go ahead and get a wedding planner book (any local bookstore will have them) get what you want. They have all kinds of them. We couldn't have planned ours without it!

ok, 2010, good planning ! Also,do you know anyone who has "good sized" house to hole your ceremony. Also, check with your local rescueand or fire departments, they usually rent their "community" rooms for inexpensive rates.Ok, this isnt a commercial or anything, but, check with your local DJ,he/she may be able to do theactual ceremony music and reception music, then, you may be able to have both events in the same place. Also, have family and friends to bring the foodand drinks, some, in place of the wedding gifts

Try printing your invitations yourself. You can find blanks at craft stores and on-line. You can also research invitation wording on-line. I saved hundreds of dollars doing this and everyone told me how beautiful my invitations were.
To further save money, look at making your own favors. You can buy small boxes at paper and box companies or even cake and candy supply stores for much less than any bridal supply. Stuff the boxes as you wish and wrap them in an organza circle and tie with a pretty satin bow.
Good Luck!

for now just clip ideas in magazines and put them in a binder. Write down ideas that you hear about. You have lots of time to plan.
