They're starting to become painful and I want them pulled as soon as possible.

Does it hurt, or do they do a good job of sedating you?

scheduling the appointment is the easy part! If your gums are infected they give you pills to take to get rid of the infection then comes the surgery it is fast and very painless but after you better follow the dr. orders! No smoking(I dont) no drinking from straws (I did) and take all meds untill its gone( I didnt) result a face that looked like someone beat me up swollen black eyes I got an infection and dry socket. They had to cut my stitches out and put a tube to drain the infection(NASTY)!!!

Let's see. Pick up phone (1 second); dial number (4 seconds); wait for answer (20 seconds); arrange appointment (30 seconds). I'd say less than a minute.

You will most likely have to be seen for an x-ray and consultation first, though. The dentist or oral surgeon has no way of knowing how much time to save for you and they can't give you a 20 minute appointment if you need an hour. There is also a chance that you will need to take an antibiotic for a few days or more before the teeth can be removed, if they are hurting due to a gum infection, which is common with wisdom teeth.

One of my wisdom teeth really started bothering me on Sunday, on Monday I called around for some dentists and found one that was willing to take me that day went in and instead of getting one pulled got 2 yanked out on my left side because she said the other one wasnt doing so good either. The 2 most annoying things about it was it took her a LONG time to numb my bottom tooth, and as she pulled the tooth it felt like she was about to break my jaw but I just kinda turned my head a bit and I was fine. I'll admit it wasnt the most fun thing to do but it wasnt as bad as I expected, she worked it a little and I could hear the bone crunching and it was out, probably took maybe less then 10 minutes per tooth, I thought I was gonna be in a lot of pain after the novacaine or whatever they use wore off so I ran to my local drustore and got the Amoxicillin and pain killer she prescribed but its amazing I didnt need the pain killer at all, it hurts a bit but not that much. Its pretty easy, dont worry about it you wont feel a thing after they give you the shot.

I agree with starwood...call now!! It's not fun when your wisdom teeth hurt! I've been there, done that! My dentist didn't put me to sleep or anything, but he did give me great numbing medicine! You also won't feel the pain until a few hours later...but you'll get great pain medicine for that too!!! Do it now...or you'll be in sooooo much pain later!! Good luck with everything...

If you call a dentist and tell him you are in pain, it shouldn't take long at all. To be sure you don't have any pain or after effects, go an oral surgeon they are trained to extract teeth.

call your oral surgeon and ask for an appointment, odds are you can be seen relatively soon, but they'll never know to make the appointment for you if you don't call them first ;)
