For the smart alecks, my son has been playing for over a yr. and is rather talented! Besides his playing abbilities weren't part of the question!

Cats can be real music critics. I know mine do not like to hear me sing. They tend to be nervous creatures, so any loud or unsual noises will distress them. Also, like dogs, their hearing is much more acute than our's so high pitched sound probably does hurt their ears somewhat, though I have never heard a cat howl when a fire truck goes by.

Loud music is hurting your son's ears as well. The cats have more sensitive hearing than humans! So I would say yes that's why they go....

I don't know about actual damage and I do know that cats HATE loud noises of any kind. In the case of continuous loud sounds from the "music" it will surely cause them a lot of stress.

yes it does bother them, and it hurts their ears. Maybe you can put your cat in a quiet part of the house while your son is playing his music.

I don't know if studies have ever been done, but considerring that cats' ears are so much more sensitive than ours, it could well be hurting them.

of course it does, it bothers human ears and animals ears.. animals can hear different ranges of sounds so its probably worse for them -
