What cookbook do you look up recipes in for your basic dinner? None of the fancy stuff that you only bother to make for company or holidays. I keep buying cookbooks that seem decent but then when I look up something simple like meatloaf or something it'll have ingredients added that don't normally go into it. Or a ton of recipes that you have to spend $20 on ingredients for.

Fix it and Forget it Lightly, but that's just slow cooker recipes.
I have an ancient (1970) Pillsbury Family Cookbook that is helpful for basics, but I love "The Mennonite Community Cookbook", and that's very easy to find at larger bookstores or online.

Take your pick, Better Homes & Gardens CookBook, Fannie Farmer CookBook, or DoubleDay CookBook, Goodhousekeeping Cookbook or Betty Crocker. All of these have the basics and variations. Buy which ever is cheaper. New editions have more nutritional information if you need to know that for dietary reasons.

Speaking of staying economical, I like using my slow cooker. I can make a million good, simple things in it.

So, cookbooks I use all the time are:

"Fix-it and Forget-it Cookbook - Feasting with your slow cooker"
by Dawn J. Ranck & Phyllis Pellman Good

Also - "Healthy Crockery Cookery" by Mable Hoffman

For baking, I like the classic Rumford cookbook or "The Muffin Lady" by Linda Fisher

I have a Pillsbury Cookbook.
It's full of the basics, "just like Grandma used to make" recipes.

The Edmonds cookbook. It's a kiwi classic. You can get it on the net and it has all those great recipes that your grandmother used to make. So simple and straight forward to follow but oh so good too.

I really like my church cookbook called "tasteful blessings".

It features recipes from church members and eveyone I have tried is amazing!

Plus, I didn't mind spending the money for it $12, because it went to help build a church in Russia.

30 Minute Meals by Rachel Ray. They're easy to follow and a lot of the recipies call for ingredients you probably already have.
