What I've heard in my fitness classes is that abs are something you can work every day as part of your routine. Make sure you work all the muscles though - reverse crunches, obliques by putting shoulder to opposite knee. Can also hold a weight above your chest as you do them. And watch your form - otherwise you're not working the muscles. Also, do plenty of cardio or you'll have a layer of fat over your six pack.

If you want to get a six pack you should do as many sit ups as frequently as possible. This will give you the best results. Abs can be worked daily and do not usually need a rest day such as upper body workouts.

You should do sit-ups until you hurt.. Until you can't do anymore. No matter how many that is.

And do them every day.. Twice a day if you can.

I've found that it's better not to count... At least not until later.

Because if you count them and you really can't do that many... It might get you down and make you think that you'll never be able to do enough.

If you don't count, it usually seems like you're doing more than you actually are.

Just do them until you can't do them anymore. It doesn't matter how many that is.

My old coach use to say - try to do
2 X Your Age every day (age 10 x 2 = 20)
maybe 3 x a day to start, don't over do it.
