Why does religion tend to do more harm than it does to help?

True religious prophets did not seek to create a global religion and create a system of making money (just like gov.); they were really teachers that were genuinely good people that wanted other people to get along and promote equality and justice. For example: Gautama Buddha, Jesus, Muhammad. It is the specific people that follow after their deaths that, for personal greed, kill many people and force conversion, so that they are a feared entity. Many of the ancestors of present day people had no choice but to convert into certain religions that maybe they didnt want to but everyone else did (ie, spread of Islam) and now the decendents of these peoples have been religious for so many generations in their families that they dont know any better and have a one-sided view on the global community. This is the result in intolerance of other people, it has been fostered in us ever since our ancestors were alive.

All religions are false; because religion is nothing but man's response to his or her idea of what a god or gods or life is all about.

Religions then are nothing but personal opinions or demonic kingdoms which serve as gathering points for evil. Religions are put forward by demonic controllers as solutions for most is not all human ills; based on ones willingness to follow blind leaders of the blind, who in turn follow the god of this world.

In short religions do more harm than good for the simple reason that the living God has nothing to do with any of them, east or west.

Rather God grants life in Christ apart from all human claims and efforts, even those of so-called Christianity.

well its not that is does harm its that its one's opinion. see you have different religions because one person didn't like what someone else belived so they took the things they belived in from one group and added what they believed to be true thats how we have different religions. Its all based on one common element. God thats the only thing each religion has in common that there is a god. Everywhere you go there something about god the most common thing is money on every denomiaton it has in god we trust. There no right or wrong religion you have to believe in whats right for you as a person. Thats why people make the statement I only have to answer to my god by saying this a person is acknowledge that god is what ever they feel inside of themselves

It's not the religion, it's the people. People can be very harsh and mean. With or without religion. People aren't suddenly great just because they became a Christian. They are the same as they were before. They just are forgiven. Christians should be constantly trying to be more Christ like, many don't succeed. It's a never ending battle.

Religion is for insecure people who do not have the strength to stand alone in life, therefore, they are easily led and are cannon fodder for the largest, richest corporations in the world,ergo, they must protect their beliefs at all costs, including destroying the lives of others who do not follow their credo.

that's your perspective...others believe it does much more good than bad. that being said you might be basing your assessment on those who use religion to do bad, the problem with that is you are generalizing and thus give religion a bad rap when there is no basis for it.

It's not the religion it's self its the people who follow it and do a poor job at it.
