If so, how? Did they try to take it away? If in a water bottle, does it have to look un-opened?

I did it. the bottles looked opened, but they never checked. I packed the bottles in my big bag, not my carry-on. the only problem is there is nothing to mix with them, and it is 100 times easier just buying cheap alcahol on the ship. Always get the special of the day if they have it.

I wouldn't imagine they check every peice of hand luggage.

yea they will take it away, they dont want terroist bringing sht on the boats, or people smuggling and trafficing stuff so your just gonna have to buy your vodka on the boat, sorry
