Yes I have had on where I felt like I could not breathe. Panic attacks are not a diagnosis. Panic disorder consists of having panic attacks and having the fear of having another panic attack. This can increase paranoia, isolation and depression. Go to a mental health professional who can diagnose you properly and get you started on medications.

Hi there, I just laugh about my past 3 years of panic now. I was not able to go anywhere without carrying xanax. Fear of having another attack was the most important subject of my days. When i first found joe barry's web site i started to cry because of my happiness.

Hi Megan, Yes there are things you can do to rid these attacks - some do not even need you to take medications. Naturally, since you are experiencing persistent and frequent panic attacks, you should consult your physician. However, many experienced sufferers treat panic attacks with some of the following methods and techniques: * Diaphragmatic Breathing or Abdominal Breathing — Breathing slowly through the nose using the diaphragm and abdomen. Do not breathe through the mouth. Focus on exhaling very slowly. This will correct or prevent an imbalance of oxygen to carbon dioxide in the blood stream. * Taking anti-anxiety medication — to be used under the guidance and direction of a physician. * Staying in the Present — rather than having "what if" thoughts that are future oriented asking yourself, "what is happening now" and "how do I wish to respond to it". * Acceptance and Acknowledgment - accepting and acknowledging the panic attack. * Floating with the symptoms — allowing time to pass and floating with the symptoms rather than trying to make them better or fighting them. * Coping Statements — repeated as part of an internal monologue: "No one has ever died from an anxiety attack." "I will let my body do its thing. This will pass." "I can be anxious and still deal with this situation." "This does not feel great, but I can deal with it". * Talking with a supportive person — someone who has experienced true panic attacks personally; someone who is highly trained in treating panic attacks; loved ones who can offer support and comfort. * One particularly helpful and effective form of therapy is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). This is the most generally accepted method of treatment. * Joe Barry's One Move™ technique is also another solution that gives you the ability to immediately stop fearing another panic attack. It is very simple yet amazingly effective. I hope these tips helped you?

I used to have panic attacks yrs ago although, at the time I didn't know what was going on. Luckily a lady I spoke with told me what it was and how to relieve it.When I had mine, my heart began to race and beat erratically and my fingertips would sweat then they kinda would feel numb. Anyways she told me to try and relax...put my mind at ease and listen to some soft music...get into fresh air and close your eyes.....so that's what I did and it worked....I don't get panic's anymore but when I did it got easier and easier to control.....good luck...:)

and feelings aren't facts.
It's not really happening.

SEEMS LIKE WE HAVE SIMILAR PROBLEMS. HAPPENS TO ME ALL THE TIME. JUST TRY TO BLOCK WHAT IS BOTHERING YOU OUT AND THINK OF OTHER BETTER THOUGHTS. TAKE *SLOW* DEEP BREATHS. YOUR THROAT ISN'T REALLY CLOSING UP, IT JUST FEELS LIKE IT IS BECAUSE YOU AREN'T PACING YOURSELF.
