lazy people need to stop being babied, they might actually get a job if we stop handing out free welfare and food stamps to people who just don't think working is necessary? some people actually have babies as a source of an Income, the more kids they have the more free money they get? do you think this is right?

Absolutely not. You only make them weaker by handing them things for free.

It is not right and I am not for it. I have two daughters one of which, along with her husband, seek government help and get it and both are very able to work but due to drug habits and laziness and wanting to party all the time won't get a job or keep it. The other daughter and her husband work all the time and try and get overtime as often as they can. They own one home, an older home and a small one that they are trying to sell and are buying another, larger, home. Both of my girls have children and the ones that work have a hard time due to co-pays even though they have insurance and pay for it yet the ones that don't work get their health care free, on the Government. It's not fair to me nor to my daughter and her husband who work all the time even though they are lower middle class. I admire people who work for what they get but it isn't right that they suffer more due to the children's illness than my other daughter and her husband who won't work or keep a job. He's 23 and never has held a job in his life. Had a chance at a great government job and even a chance to go into the military but failed the drug test for both. We all make choices but the government often rewards the wrong people to avoid hurting the few that really do need help.

"some people actually have babies as a source of an Income, the more kids they have the more free money they get?"

The average size of a welfare family is almost exactly the same as the national average, so this can't be a serious or common problem.

You should worry less about the very small percentage of people who abuse the system, and start worrying about why so many people need the system in the first place.

Not everyone is lazy. Some people have mental problems, others have health problems. They have stopped people that have multiple children to get more money for each baby. They want them to stop it. We are to help the poor if they are truly poor. In MI they are having everyone that is on welfare get into Works First. If they don't participate then they get cut off welfare.

Nikki I agree with you.. The government has stuffed up.. I live in Australia and here why would you want to work when the government pays you to sit at home.. Its a Joke.. Our Government is that STUPID Nikki they now give EVERY newborns mother $4000... Lol and the government honestly believes that teenagers etc wont start having kids just to get this $4000 grant.. well teenage pregnancy has most definately gone up hasnt it.. Teenagers have their baby get the $4000 and dont want the kid anymore.. The government has alot of explaining to do I think! how many babies are going to be killed, abandoned before someone uses common sense!

Not all people on welfare are lazy and able to work. In fact, I was on welfare when my child was very small because I was not making enough to support us on my income. I never abused it but I used it until I could get back on my feet after leaving her abusive father. I do not regret it and I would make the same choice today if faced with the same circumstances.

I'm not saying the welfare system isn't abused, but have you ever tried getting a job without an address or phone number? It's impossible, and the waiting lists for housing help are long. In the meantime, you've gotta survive somehow, and begging is better than mugging.

I don't think it's right to continually live off this kind of aid for years on end. Some families have generations and generations of relatives that do this. And, like you said, they have multiple babies to get more money. That is disgusting to me.

I do know that everyone needs a helping hand sometime or another in their life...and they should be helped, without having to feel like a leech on the "system."

Yes I do agree, One day I was working in a neighborhood and I saw a lady standing with a sign that said. I need my power cut back on. I felt bad and pulled in and asked what is the name of your power company. She paused, studdered and then gave me the name of a power company that was an hour away. I then said why are you here on a corner an hour away from your home begging? She said my sister lives here and I staying with her until my power is cut back on. I said ok, what's the name again? I'm going to make out a check to the power company and that way you can just give it to them directly. She said you're an asshole and walked away.....That told me all I needed to know.

this is why i do not offer them a handout, however if they need it i will help them to find a job, give them diecent cloths for the interview, take them to the interview etc.

if they really need money now... like starving and such, i will try to give them a few days work around my house, but there is only so much work that i can afford to pay someone to do.
