I'm a stay-at-home mom. There are days when I daydream that I'm working somewhere in a big office and at the same time my babies are at the day-care being a handful to somebody else. I think being a mother is a hard, 24-7 job--period. You just don't get sick days or vacation time with this job. And it's only that much tougher when you have to do it alone as a single-mom. Single-moms--those are the women and mothers that I really respect for doing what they have to. I have respect for all moms though, whether you bust your butt at home or at work.

First of all I detect a little hostility in your comment. I am a stay at home mom, and yes it is hard, though I don't consider it the "hardest job in the world" as you put it. It sounds to me like you are trying to take on too much, hence your anger. Try asking your husband for some help around the house. On a side note, even though I am a stay at home mom, I do have my busy moments (I am a volunteer firefighter and paramedic on call 24/7) and it is times like these after I have been on a particularly bad call, my husband will take the initiative and do some of the housework, and he works full time in a very stressful job (corrections officer in a max security prison). If your husband loves you then he won't mind, and you can finally put a lid on the whole issue altogether.

Everyone's perception is different working moms have different issues and hurdles then a stay at home mom. Thier kids and families tend to more over booked then a working mother's so it is best not to judge another's home.
Mother's and women with kids not to stop comparing and keeping score against each other and start measuring thier own self worth to decide if how they do things is enough. One woman bakes 100 cookies another mom makes extra time for her kids in another way. A single woman has different pressures too so it is really unfair to judge or state some choice of lifestyle is tougher/harder then another.
Walk a mile in another's shoes...

I'm a stay at home mom...and sometimes I get jealous of the working moms...but would I trade places with them?!
NOT in a million years...when you go to work..I'm working, when your home with your family...I'm still working..My husband did my job when I gave birth to our last son..he had to be mom and dad to our then 3 yr old...He says HE'D RATHER GO TO WORK than do my job!! I don't get a break from the house work...I can't sit in a car or office and have communications with others (besides the Elmo loving 2 yr old!) that I don't have to wipe their noses!
You do get a small break...by yourself...the last time I had a break from my children?!....before the first one was born..almost 17 yrs ago... I would LOVE to have a career...but I'll be happy being mom...the toughest job...I've ever had...The only job...I've ever LOVED!!!

I must admit.... It was NOT tough at all !!!! actually it was the easiest thing I ever did. I could stay in my pj's all day if I wanted. (not that I did that) ha ha!!
I honestly don't know why they say it is the hardest job...I had a blast not going to work.... running around with my son.... It was the such a pleasure !! I do NOT consider it a job either... It was MY life !!
It may be an important part of life but difficult? HELL NO..not for me anyway and I can only give MY opinion.
Thanks for asking that !!

yes i am sick of the whole debate. All mother's regardless of stay at home or working have it hard. there are stereo typing for both side's. Stay at home mom's supposedly sit at home watch soap opera's and eat bon bon's (what is a bon bon) working mom's don't spend enough time with there family's. it is truly ridiculous. we as women should love and respect each other. Way to go for both side's. I am a stay at home mom for the time being and i love it, but can't Wait to re-enter the work force.

i think one is just as hard as the other. just remember,if anyone ever tells you that you are not working hard enough, just tell them a man can work from sun to sun, but a womans work is never done.
