An ex-gay who is celibate is not really an ex-gay. He's a celibate gay man. Any gay or straight man could be celibate when put through the torture of a conversion therapy. The purpose, however, is to turn them into sexually active heterosexuals, and that is such a set up for the men AND the women who fall in love with them. Think about it. Would you want your sister or daughter to marry someone who used to be gay? Is your religious faith that strong?
The ex-gay movement is simply a way to torture men into not having sex through intimidation, physical pain, social isolation, and guilt inducement. And most of the time, it does not work. They won't keep statistics, only anecdotal evidence. High numbers of their "success" stories return back to a gay lifestyle, although traumatized by the process.
This is another example of the harm that religion can cause.

Probably not. I speak from experience. I know of a man who was married to a woman for 17 years. Then they divorced and he went with a gay partner. Later, he met a younger woman and married her. The marriage lasted one week because he went back to his male lover. Either they should be analyzed and given a clean bill of health or just stay away from the opposite sex.

i dont know if one can be an 'ex-gay.' (maybe there's a better way of putting that also - not to be pc, but...)
anyway, to answer your question, since are plenty of latent-homosexuals that are married, as well as bisexual men I dont see why an 'ex-gay' couldn't date a woman. i dont know how many would. maybe living as a hermit away from all kinds of sex would be better for an 'ex-gay,' if they don't want to be tempted by 'still-gays.'

Isn't an ex-gay usually just called bisexual? Plenty of homosexual men and women marry the opposite sex, for whatever reason, and never cheat on their spouses. Its a combination of three things: love, respect, and self control.

If someone is an "ex-gay," they were either never gay to begin with, or are still gay and are now deluding themselves. If it is the former, sure, they can date women, but if it is the latter, no wonder they stay single. Not attracted to the opposite sex, not able to date the ones you are attracted to because of the bigotry of your faith... how sad.

I suppose it would be possible to live a "normal life" with wife and kids et al but would you be happy living a lie? That is probably why most stay celibate.

Whats an "exgay"???? Never heard of anyone being an "exgay" before!
But to answer your question... yes they could get a girlfriend or get married. There are a surprising number of married men who are "closet gay" and their wives dont know it. Nothing is stopping them from leading so called "normal lives".

I do not believe that someone becomes un-gay.
I am sure there are gay people that may attempt to lead a heterosexual lifestyle, I doubt they are happy. I am sure there are gay people that are celibate. Un-gay just doesn't happen.

Sure! That's why you're an "ex-gay"....you no longer want to date men. Maybe you 're really bi-sexual.
