Like the nook you want to put it in is too small, or the room is small and the TV will overpower it?
If the corner or nook is the problem, each manufacturer has the EXACT dimensions posted on their web site. You should be able to get them from the sales rep at the store as well.
If you are worried about overpowering the room, consider you need to be at least 6-8 feet away to appreciate a TV of that size. if your seating will be closer than that due to the size of the room, consider a 43in instead (or a 42 inch plasma or LCD).

goto the wall you want to hang the tv on, get some thumbtacks and some string and pin the string like a rectangle to the wall about the size of the tv cabinet and stand back and see what it looks like. it'll give you a better size perspective

Unless you're talking about the bathroom, it's not too big.
You'll get used to the size. You'll want bigger soon.

Um, not to be sarcastic, but what else can you do?
Get smaller TV, or get a bigger room?
