"At that point I lost it and told them that they deserved to be poor and I would pray that their future generation turned out the same. Jesus would want this fate for them had he heard their comments!"
Boom! Ouch You said you want them to see the light of christ? I'm not trying to make you sound like a bad christian or anything, because everyone has a certain level in their walk with christ, but don't let Satan block your idea of who christ really is. Take a look at that last sentence in your quote, and then take a look at this piece of scripture:
"While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew's house, many tax collectors and 'sinners' came and ate with him and his disciples. When the pharasees saw this, they asked his disciples 'Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and 'sinners'?'
On hearing this, Jesus said "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice' For I have not come to call the richous but sinners." - Matthew 9:10-13
Jesus hears everything everyone says, though nowhere in the bible does it mention a place where someone can sin so much that they can't be forgiven. If you want to show people the light of christ, don't hold a debate against them. Never start an argument between who's right, even if they don't have a clue what they are talking about. Jesus witnessed to sinners, simply by hanging out with with them, and not just his disciples. He spoke very little, and focused on just love, for the lost and broken. Door to door is not what Jesus did. Find someone you can love on. It makes all the difference. After all, who wants to became a christian by the defeat of their argument agains God?

One thing is to pray before you go. Also get the book Fresh Wind Fresh Fire, and the book the Church That Never Sleeps. They go and pray each day for the people before they even go into the neighborhood. Satan blinds people so that they can't see the truth. Also Jesus said that when they hate you they are actually hating Him. Don't give up, and don't get upset. Matthew 10:22, Matthew 24:9, Mark 13:13, Luke 21:17. Just love everyone, and show them Jesus love through your life. We are all a lighthouse for all to see, and they are watching us every step of the way. Don't get discouraged ever. If they choose not to follow Christ, that is between them and Christ. They will answer to Him. But share your heart. God bless you.

Well First most people don't hate Christians. They just HATE it when Christians try to push their beliefs on them when its unwanted. It's called respect I suggest you try to learn how to do that. It is rude to go to someones house and try to push your religion on them when they hold no interest in the subject. As far as your key goal, that is nothing more then BS! There are several Christians and they steal have to deal with poverty. Like wise god did not create jobs, people did.
Your speaking privileges should be revoked. You wounder why people HATE you! Just take a look at how incompetent you are with a question like yours. Or better yet instead of coming on here to ask such BS wont you go pray to your god for the answers. I'm sure you will enjoy talking to your self.
Secondly you have No control over anyone other then your self. So don't be trying to control anyone else. You are lucky you did not show up at my door with that BS!

Well controlling them is the first step you got wrong. It says nowhere in the scripture to teach by control. It also says to spread God's word all over from one side of the earth to the other. But Jesus said, if a group will not listen to you then youshould shake the dust from your feet and move on. It is hard when you are destitute to see the good that may befall you as a Christian. Did you offer them assisstance in so far as, there are Christian organizations which help pay bills for people in need and places that carry food for those who have need of it as well.

You're targeted. Accept Marx in place of Christ, and the State in the place of Jehovah, and you'll have no problems teaching college or starting a journalistic career. Plus, you'll avoid re-education camp when the Comintern takes over.
I'm agnostic. I'm not the least bit afraid that Christians will cram their religion down my throat. I'm just worried that the food at the re-education camp will not be to my liking...

It sounds like they're not really in a receptive place for you to reach them right now. First of all, never yell at people that way! No matter what they say! Jesus would never want that for anyone, and if you really believe that you have serious problems. Why don't you try gaining their trust and then sharing your belief in a non-threatening way? The best way to witness is through actions, i.e., why is it that this guy cares enough to bring me dinner every thursday? And then you can tell them you love god.

What I find so hard to understand is why do "Christians" feel like they have to convert everyone? Most people who go to church leave the rest of us alone. Why don't you leave people alone and stop trying to convert them to something phoney that isn't going to help them no matter what you say. Believing in the Bible will not help someone out of poverty. Better you should offer them a job in the local Walmart. Stay out of other people's lives and mind your own business.

I suppose that your probably tempted, and probably have told them that Jesus would improve their life. I don't suggest doing this, and the main reason why is because that it is a false gospel. If you want to learn how to share the true gospel with all walks of life, I suggest that you read "Hell's Best Kept Secret" and "The Way of the Master" by Ray Comfort. All christian and atheist questions purely could be circled and you get your answer... Why carry out a little christians experience the could attempt to transform me? in case you have such little faith you may convince others, then consistent with probability you may bypass and look at the bible.. Im happy being a non believer.. There are as many "stupid" questions coming from christians as there is coming from atheists...

People can be so cruel...although it did say in the Bible that we would be made fun of because of our beliefs in Christ, just don't cease what God had asked you to do!! Just get a group of people and preach to the poor!! All they need to know about is the Love of God!!
Take care...God loves you!! (**,)
