Does anyone know what a re-enlistment code 3 means on a DD214?

it means a waiver will be required to re enlist(that does NOT have to be granted). If the discharge was due to medical reasons or personal reasons(death in family, etc), then the reason for the discharge must no longer be a factor.
Not every branch will waiver the same reasons for discharge.

Re-3 means that when discharged it will take 2 years before you can reinlist again. But you can get an early waiver to rejoin sooner but theres a lot of red tape you will have to go through.

It means that in order for the person to get back into the military he or she will have to get a waiver.
