I've had my cat Furby for a year now and a few months after I got him, I got another cat for him to play with. They got along great, however, the cat ruined my apartment and had some really bad habits so I gave him to a friend. Then I got another cat which I also recently gave away because of many reasons. Now my cat Furby seems so depressed and lonely. He always wants to play and I'm not home much to see him. Should I get another cat?

I think you've answered your own question, look at the problems you encountered with two. You are extremely lucky if you have a cat that wouldn't be insanely jealous of the "newcomer" and some cats will spray, claw things, eat plants, shed, have urinary blockages and need to be on special food... the list is endless, not to mention your pet expenses double for food, litter and vet bills. I have one perfect cat and one not so perfect that my husband brought home at 8 weeks that he found on the road and which I couldn't say no to. I love my cats (would you know it by reading this? lol) but wish I only had the one. Cats live roughly 15-20 years or beyond and that is quite a commitment! Getting one only to 'give it away' later isn't the answer. Be happy with the one you have; cats are independent and solitary creatures. They mostly nap during the day anyway and are perfectly happy home alone til you or the family arrives at the end of the day. They know they are the center of your universe and are happy that they don't have to share your attention with another pet. I'm just speaking from experience. I've done the two-cat thing twice.
Good luck.

Yes, but how to get one that is compatible with your apartment? I heard that fur color co-relates with personality. I also wanted another cat because the last one wouldn't come in at night and disappeared. I figured that a brown or gray female tabby would be most likely a homebody, so I got one...It's too seen to know the result, she's just a kitten. My older brown tabby is also a great mouser, as evidenced by her weight! I don't feed her that much, but she's fat.

Since you were successful in rehoming two other cats I would suggest that Furby also should be found a new home. He's not happy and you don't have time for him.

It would improve his life and yours too.

No get a kitten. Fruby will love it and it will probably take on a lot of the same traits as Fruby. Hold the kitten and show lots of affection and you should be happy and Fruby will stop being depressed.
