I'm having a destination wedding in Jamaica, then a reception back home. I think that, including the cost of my fiance and I's trips, and half of each of our best friend's trips (1 each), the total cost will be somewhere close to $15,000. Although, I've been too lazy to sit down and figure out a budget, so that's just a guess.

My wife and I have been together for 22 years now. We met in 1984 and got engaged in 1985, but we were a little different. We didn't set a particular date. Instead, we set a deadline and we said that we would get married before the end of 1990.
True to our word, we finally got married on December 7, 1990 (D-Day for those who don't know your history). We didn't have a big fancy, expensive wedding. Instead, we used my computer with a dotmatrix printer to make the announcements and print the labels for the envelopes. Then, we went to the Court House and saw the Judge and got married (we had already picked up our rings the previous weekend and only paid $100 each).
After we left the Court House, we went back home and got the announcements and took them to the post office and mailed them. Then, we went to JC Penny, where we got our photo taken and we used a coupon. While we were at the mall we saw a small kitchen plaque that fit us just perfectly so we bought it and it said, "This marriage was made in heaven, but then so is thunder!"
Once we left the mall we went to Olive Garden, where we had a very nice meal and then got a cake.
After dinner we went and saw a community play of Scrooge. When that was over we went to Village Squire (a local pub/resturant), where we had drinks by the fire place. Then, we went back home.
Altogether, I think we spent around $600, when you count the cost of our rings, my wife's dress, our dinner, and ect.
A year later we celebrated our anniversary by going to a four star hotel about an hour from home for the weekend.
We are just as happy as other couples and we didn't have to spend a ton of money to get married or go through all the aggrivation of arranging a wedding with a bunch of guests. I don't see how some women get married more than once and have a wedding each time. They must be a glutton for punishment or something.

$8K for under 120 people, including us.
We made our own flower arrangements for $100 with flowers from Hobby Lobby and Michaels (fake flowers)
We looked at consignment stores for wedding dresses
We went to paegant stores for the flower girl dresses.
We interviewed a dozen people about photography and cake. We ended up with the cheapest and best people for both.
A friend of the family is in a bluegrass band and gave us a HUGE discount to play at the reception.
We are using the same ceremony and reception place. (We splurged--we spent about 1/3 of our budget here, but we saved because we didn't have to decorate)
We aren't renting a limo or anything, so that cuts costs.
We made our own invitations--we left about 3 months to make them so we didn't have to be stressed about it.
We're playing our own music for the ceremony.
We're using homemade brownies (thanks Mom!) and popcorn (it's in a theatre) for favors.
Overall--great fun!

It looks like mine will be around $18000 after all is said and done. 250+ people (down from 350!), many of whom are wealthy and therefore will walk out indignantly if we don't give them what they expect. I don't care, but my family/my fiance's family will...and it's best to keep the peace, I guess...
And I hate that! I would love a simple, $5000 wedding...

Our wedding, reception, AND honeymoon are budgeted in a $10,000 budget.
National average is $22 - $28 thousand (and that is not counting the honeymoon!)
It depends on your preferences, amount of guests, choice of date, time, time of year, day, etc)

It depends on how fancy of a wedding you want. You can shop around and try to find good prices on almost anything . Organazation is key. But if you have a budget make a list of
what is most important to you. Somethings no one remembers
or pays attention to. Most importantly just remember that this
is a celebration of your love and have fun!

I'm dreading it, but it looks like my wedding will be around $10,000. But, if I win the lottery, I'll up the budget. :)

Our budget was around 22K but it looks now we are closer to 35K. All of the little things add up and so many unexpected charges come up at the end.
