I recently got another perm, at the end of August, and I'm starting to get tired of the curly hair. I want my natural, straight hair back but everytime my perm comes out my hair looks damaged and even frizzy. It does not feel damaged however, and I was told by my hairdresser that because my hair does not feel damaged and I am conditioning it, it is ok. But it still LOOKS damaged! How do I get rid of that? Is there some sort of shampoo or something that I could use? Something simple? I am really regretting ever getting perms because of this damaged look I have when they finally come out! What can I do?

as for that last answer, my question, if you've read it, is NOT on hair falling out! Please read the question before posting an answer!

Get it cut often (every month). Do not add color treatment on top of a perm as it will fry it more. Perms can only be cut out or grown out in their time. What you need to do is buy a deep treatment and do it once or twice a week. I don't mean V05 garbage. I mean something that you find in a salon. Ask your stylist (and they're never going to tell you they damaged your hair...trade her in for a new model). If she fried your hair then she did too much treatment when she shouldn't have. Pop over to a different salon and ask any of the people there if they can recommend a treatment. But cutting is mandatory to keep hair healthy (it also makes it grow faster too).

OK i have never gotten a perm but i have wavy FRIZZY hair and it looks damaged and blow drying and rubbing it with a towel can damage it even further. but to get my hair a little less frizzy i use
Pantene hydrating curls shampoo and conditioner and for the top i use Garnier Fructis Style smoothing milk (it's like not MILK! it's like conditioner) strong
it instantly smooths and controls frizz
PS i suggest straighting it if it still has curls

Yeah, use the new Sunsilk in the pink bottles. It's excellent stuff. Use the shampoo, conditioner and the after treatment in the bottle. When it's dry, lighty mist your hair with a good light weigh hair spray-don't satuarate! When almost dry, use one of those flat straightening irons. When you done, comb through where you straightened. This has always worked perfectly for me. I had the same problem after a perm.

you can cut your hair, unfortunatly, hair if hair is damaged by chemicals its not going to be the way it was before, you can do conditioning treatments, but perms can be damaging so your putting perm over top of old perm when you keep re doing it.

my mom got one, and all she could do was wait till it grew out! but u know, they have the opposite of perms now, which perminantly straightens your hair, but that might damage it even more. i suggest just letting it grow out.

Get as much as you can cut off, and then use leave-in conditioners. THEN, after you are done blowing it dry (or even before), rub frizz serum into the ends.
