we have 4 birds and we sometimes get bad birdseed..what we do is freeze all the birdseed we get now because it kills anything in it.then to get rid of the ones you have get the cheap like 2 dollar three packs of fly strips, the moth strips work OK but they are very expensive and dont really do as good as of job, the moths will get attached to the strip and other moths will smell them and land on the strip also... hang ALOT!!! ( hang them everywhere!!)don't waste your money on all those other things.we also use a shop vac.good luck..its gonna take some time but in the future freeze all your food and only keep it out when its in seal-able containers....

All fresh seed produce moths. With four birds you are purchasing it in bulk the same way I do. You can freeze it for a few days when you buy it and pull out a container or two at a time. This reduces the problem. You cannot use bug sprays, this will kill your birds. You can put up fly paper strips, but the newest thing I have tried, along with the flypaper strips is a bug zapper. You know, the kind you put out on the back porch to get rid of mosquitos? It has worked wonders!!!

You can go look on ebay for moth traps or go to the pet store for them located in the bird isle. Get rid of the bad seed its old and has been exposed to the air way too long. Any food with these moths or found with like cob webs in it making it look stringy, should be thrown outside to the wild birds. You have got to keep your bird seed closed in tight containers like rubber maid pales or plastic pitchers or reuse the buckets the feed comes in. Always replacing lids tightly. Always buy your seed from the FEED STORE where it comes fresh out of the bag or bin. OIr the seed in the closed containers. These moths will only hatch out when exposed to the air and the seed sits around too long before being used. They will get into your furniture, clothes, and curtains to lay their eggs and in some cases your beding, anything cloth is at risk for these moths to lay its eggs on. Places you dont even know about too until you discover the eggs planted all over it. Very hard to get rid of. So MOTH TRAPS found on ebay for under $10.00 work wonders!

I would first get rid of the seed. Check for pupae in cabinets. Vacuum the infested area well. Scrub dishes, drawers, and shelves with hot soapy water
