Our need for fossil fuels exploded with the industrial revolution. What seemed only accessible to the rich, was suddenly within the grasp of the masses. The lure of luxury, however, has had it's price. We've become a nation addicted to oil, because it's cheap energy... But is it? What we're paying for oil is far greater than what appears at first glance. We've become dependent on a fuel source that's not only inherently dirty to burn, but dirty to obtain. Our need for foreign oil has changed the course of our history and threatens to take away our future, through global political improprieties as well as Global warming and a natural backlash that will be difficult to undo.
You can take it from here, but if you need more, just let me know through details and I'll keep writing.

sooner or later we almost certainly will run out of oil as there is only so much of it - there are several questions that this would beg - and you can discuss these in your intro at a high level:
1. When the fuel runs out, how ready will we be for that eventuality - will oil still be a major fuel source, the loss of which will be traumatic, or will we be using it mostly as a feedstock for plastics and organic chemicals, in which case perhaps we can adapt without too much trauma by replacing the petroleum with bio-sources.
2. What will the climate be like by the time we burn all of the oil ? Will there be irreperable damage (such as huge loss of species, loss of habitable parts of the globe etc?)
3. When will this happen ? If the existing oil is burned over, say, 300 years, that would be more of a climate change impacts than if we did it over 600 years.
4. WHAT will we be using for energy ? Will we be already using other sources or left scrambling for alternatives ?
5. What will become of those countries whose economies depend of producing oil ?

Southeast Asia and India have more beneficial Muslims than the middle East and alot a lot less oil so I quite doubt that their respect comes from oil. it really is more beneficial positive to respect everybody each and every of the time for no reason in any respect except it being the right portion of do.

It's the reason we shouldn't be completely dependent on food sources from other global origins, we should always support the local businesses as a hedge against some type of trade distribution problem.

A great book is "hubberts peak" by deffeyes.
Most of the articles in reputable scientific journals reference that text.
I also have a paper on the consequences of it going unaddressed and a powerpoint on how to go about addressing it.
